Latest Microsoft Launcher beta tweaks weather widget, works with Microsoft To-Do

Microsoft is shipping out another new beta update for Microsoft Launcher for Android. The latest update clocks in at version 5.3, and it brings along with it a redesigned weather and time widget, along with integration with Microsoft To-Do tasks and a number of general refinements to the user experience.

Here's the full rundown of what's new, from Microsoft (opens in new tab):

  • Time/Weather widget redesign- Now you can have multiple widgets in multiple sizes in multiple styles for multiple locations! Also check out the updated and more detailed L2 page with hourly and 10 day forecast.
  • UX refinements to the Home Screen, Dock and Search widget
  • Tasks card now supports "My Day" and "Flagged Emails" from Microsoft To Do
  • News tab now supports "Technology" as a news interest
  • Font type changed from Segoe UI to Roboto
  • Work profile customers can now get access to their work apps
  • Beta community link in Settings changed to lead to Microsoft Tech Community

These changes are only shipping out to beta testers right now, but they should make their way to the release version of the app before too long if testing goes well. If you want to sign up to be a beta tester, you can do so at the Google Play store (opens in new tab). Otherwise, beta testers can get started with the latest tweaks as the update propagates on Google Play.

  • Wish they'd fix the battery drain and give an option for four icons in the dock.
  • Hmm... Not on 5.3 in the store atm. is latest for me, even I'm a beta tester.
  • From the linked post: "The beta build may need a couple of hours or a day to propagate before you will see it in your Google Play download link, depending on Google Play roll out progress, and please keep the feedback coming!"
  • Sounds great but every time I select launcher as my preferred assistant on my oneplus I get to use it maybe twice before Google kicks in asking for access to my data and replaces launcher with Google assist...
  • I pretty much stopped using MS Launcher when they required it (Cortana) to be the default device assistant to see SMS notification badges. Not sure why this is a requirement. I do like MS Launcher better than Samsung One UI except for this.
  • No, please don't switch to googles super ugly font. I'd rather have Comic Sans instead of Roboto. Segue UI has such a nice look and feel and is easier on the eyes than that ****.
  • I would just love to see live tile support come to this launcher.
  • I am updated but does anybody's app look like the one the posted?
  • Working great here on my Galaxy S8+!
  • Is there anybody able to use Cortana with the latest builds?
It crashes on startup on my phone.
And yes, Roboto font is horrible!
