Microsoft Store opening in Salt Lake City UT, win tickets to see exclusive performance by Train

Microsoft is getting ready to open its brick and mortar store in Salt Lake City, which will begin taking in customers on April 11th. Located at City Creek Center, Microsoft will be kicking off the ceremony with a follow-up special performance by Train, the popular and well-known band.

The concert will be held on April 13th, but how does one get tickets? You're going to want to get to the new store on the opening day. The first 200 people in line for the store opening on Thursday 11th will receive two free premier viewing tickets.

Recipients will be granted access to meet and greet with the band after the show with the first ticket, while the second grants another person admission to the concert only. But Microsoft isn't limiting the performance to just 200 as the company will hand out two premier viewing tickets to the next 1000 people in line.

So how to get to the location? It's been Binged, so be sure to follow the directions on your Windows Phone. The store will open its doors at 11:00am after the ceremony.

  • Good news. The more stores that open the more people will see a better image of Microsoft IMO.
  • I agree, its all about putting yourself and product out there in people faces so they can notice it. That's what Apple does.
  • Lol there is an apple store at city creek, good competition.
  • Pretty sure Microsoft Stores only go near Apple stores.
  • I would probably go if Train wasn't playing...
  • It's cool that more stores are opening, but Microsoft is getting really obnoxious with the whole marketing aspect. Why waste money inviting some crappy band? They're trying way too hard to be hip. The fact is that you can't force a lifestyle brand. They'd be better served reallocating the money they squander on marketing campaigns and focusing on app development and improved developer support. They keep alienating the indie developer base that could help the platform thrive as they've done for iOS.
  • They would have to pay me to go if Train was there. Not the other way around.
  • Yeah, not the best choice. My first thought was I thought they wanted good publicity?
  • I want to go but I have to work, but I'm glad that there is finally a store opening up near me.

  • Had to reply....Went to Chicago last week. Went to the Microsoft Specialty Store and watched Book of Mormon on Broadway. Loved it. Great post sir. :)
  • I been to the opening in Boston. It was fun. Then two days later, I went to see the Lenny Kravitz free concert. It was great.. Free food, free drinks, tons of free Microsoft T-Shirts.. If you live in or near Salt Lake City, I recommend that you go check it out. Microsoft knows how to throw a store opening party. Plus most of all. Check out their store. I was lucky enough to witness their first store with their new company logo. Its a fun time..
  • Sweet shifting my Thursday appointments to Wednesday and standing in line. Go Utah! xD
  • Is there a list of locations of store will.open? I really want one in San Francisco!!!
  • Go to the one in Corte Madera.
  • Too far. A big city like San Francisco needs one right across the apple store just to show them what real competition is.
  • The next one should be in Indianapolis I believe.
  • Sweet, I heard about this a while ago, but didn't realize it was opening so soon.  It will be nice to have an MS Store close to me.  I haven't actually made it down to City Creek yet, maybe this will finally give me a reason to go.
  • Why all the hate on Train? I rather like them.
  • I don't get it either. My wife really likes them, I'm impartial to them, but why be so angry that they are performing for freeeeeee if you get in line?
