Nokia Lumia 610 and 900 set to launch in Australia

Nokia has been sending out invitations to the media for an event today, which will put the Lumia 900 and 610 on show at an undisclosed location in Sydney. Australia already have the 800 and 710, which will be joined by the flagship and budget Windows Phones to provide consumers more choice.

As the media event is on May 17th, speculations of a late June launch for both the Lumia 900 and 610 have already been published. A burning question will be if the Lumia 900 will be the 4G LTE or international version supporting just HSPDA+ DC.  The 900 sports a 1.4Ghz chip, 4.3 AMOLED display and a 8MP rear shooter with a 1MP front-facing camera. The low-end Lumia 610 features an 800Mhz processor with 256MB RAM, 5MP camera and a 3.2 LCD display.

Of course, Mobicity has already been taking pre-orders for the Lumia 900 for a few months now.

  • isnt the 610 a 3.7" display, not 3.2"?
  • 3.7"
  • Interesting you mentioned Mobicity. I'm planning to contact them about this: I think a few sites might be affected by it.
@wpcentral you may wanna check it out too if you haven't already.
  • That's not an issue. No import phones are covered by manufacturer warranty's. Mobility provide their own third party warranty and always have
  • I have a friend in Auzzieland that's been waiting for this.
  • Thanks Rich! Yea its 3.7" for the Lumia 610, was my mistake in the original article.
  • Awesome! And we only pay 70% more the the US for the same phones! (AUD is 1:1 with USD)
  • *than the
  • Yeah it will be interesting to see what price point the 900 is at in Australia and New Zealand when it launches considering our exchange rates are pretty comparable to the US. By the time it gets to NZ it will be August, might as well just wait for Windows 8 by then :/
  • I really hope it comes to Telecom, but atm im not sure there are any plans for it to atm, but I spoke to a telecom shop rep a couple of wks ago and he said the 800 and 710 were selling like hot cakes! My local was almost out of stock! :D but hopefully we get full windows phone range eg titan2 and focus s ECT!
  • Didn't Apple have to offer refunds to anyone in Australia who bought a "New Apple iPad" recently as they advertised it as 4G compatible even though it was actually 4G LTE compatible which isn't used in Australia? On that basis, I imagine the international version of the Lumia 900 supporting just HSPDA+ DC will be the model shipped to Oz. Either way, I still have an HTC HD7 (which I love) and this could be the replacement for me, 4G or not.
  • Telstra have a 4g service on a different band that the iPad uses therefore apple got busted for saying it was 4g cause you couldn't use it on any 4g service. Here's to hoping Nokia make the Lumia 900 available on Telstra's 4g service.
  • at first glance, i couldnt even see the white bezel on the lumia 900 LOL
