Nokia pushing out fix for Play To, addresses issues with GDR3 Developer Preview

Nokia recently confirmed issues with an update for Play To on Windows Phone, which enables users to stream media, such as photos, music and videos to other DLNA enabled devices. The issue was that those running the GDR3 Developer Preview and the latest version of the app were missing crucial software components required for both to get along in harmony.

Today, Nokia has unveiled a fix, which should hit the store in a week or so.

If you have been suffering from the black screen bug in Play To and are running the GDR3 Developer Preview, it's because you're missing some important components the app requires. There are two ways for this issue to be resolved. The first is an automatic fix with the Lumia Black release – which has only just kicked off – alongside a version 3.0 update for Play To from Nokia.

The second option, since it may take some time for all affected users to receive Lumia Black, is to wait for the company to release a fix, which is expected to be published in a week's time. We'll keep you posted as to when the fix is available.

  • Cant come soon enough, missing this feature drastically.
  • Hope it works with the Xbox One better. It keeps crashing for me. I am only on Amber.
  • Yeah I got the U3DP and my app is broke, but there's no rush for me, I'll just wait until I get updates for my system and app. Play To is very neat though, I like it.
  • Hopefully play to functionality is baked into 8.1 like it is in Windows 8.
  • When baked in it needs an OS update to be up to date. An app is what we need and can be updated daily. If I'm assuming I'm correct.
  • Finally...
  • As an Xbox Music subscriber, I find this app pretty well useless. All I can use it for is picture and video. Add a DLNA player to the app Nokia so I can push my videos and music from my server to my Xbox One Nokia!
  • If that happens i would jump for joy 100 x as i have a xbox music subscription and can't stand that I am unable to  stream all my music to all these devices. Makes my sonos system usless for xbox music, because i cant stream the drm protected music !!!
