A new report from the Finland media outlet Helsingin Sanomat claims, via "multiple" but unnamed sources, that Microsoft plans to lay off as many as 1,000 workers based in that country. Microsoft took in 4,700 new Finland team members when it acquired Nokia's Devices and Services division in April.

The same report also claims Microsoft plans to shut down Nokia's former R&D labs location in Oulu, which develops software for the Asha feature phones and currently has 500 workers. Microsoft would not comment on Helsingin Sanomat report.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella hinted strongly last week that the company has some major organizational changes in the works, but has not confirmed or denied yet that those changes will include layoffs. Some rumors claim Microsoft will start laying off workers as early as this week.

What do you think about these latest rumors?
