Stephen Elop to Keynote at Qualcomm's Uplinq 2011 Conference

More interesting news on the Nokia front, along with Qualcomm. While both companies have a history in having a somewhat distant relationship, it seems they are really starting to come together, especially with Nokia's entry into Windows Phone 7.5 being just around the corner. The CEO of Nokia, Stephon Elop, will be keynoting at Qualcomm's Uplinq 2011 conference on June 2nd in San Diego.

Brilliant news for the Qualcomm and Nokia partnership, should the handset giant make a positive re-entrance into the competition under Microsoft's flag, since Qualcomm see promise with the handset manufacturer (opens in new tab). Along with Nokia, HP and HTC are to be present at the conference.

  • I hope they have something to show at this event, June sounds like a good time to start talking about new WP7 devices. How about a tweaked N8 with WP7 on it? It can't be that hard to change the buttons can it?
  • I was about to say that they may show some phones, but I am not so sure. In his last interview, Elop said they won't be announcing anything until very close to release, which isn't going to be until September at the very earliest.I am not expecting too much from this keynote. As for how hard it is to make a phone, I don't think it is hard at all for Nokia to do it. I believe the phone(s) they are coming out with this year are just ports of their existing devices. The big thing is they are waiting for Mango.
