Vodafone to launch an array of Windows Phone 8 devices this month

The UK has a fever, and the only prescription is more Windows Phone. UK mobile operator Vodafone has announced a number of Windows Phones that will launch on the network this month. The company will also be looking at rolling out LTE on its network this year, which will complement the line-up of Windows Phone 8 hardware that has been highlighted.

So what's Vodafone looking to stock up on? The blog post announces the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 620, HTC 8X and HTC 8S. No show from Samsung with the ATIV S, which is available over on O2. So when will all these awesome smartphones be readily available for consumers to purchase? February 6th, just two days away.

The company has reportedly been working hard on testing the hardware on its network. There's no word yet on pricing. We'll keep our eyes open and update should any information come to light.

  • Pretty comprehensive range of phones right there. Good to see some strong carrier support!
P.S. Rich, in the sections for each phone it says which colours will be available.
  • Thanks, lol - not sure how I managed to miss that!
  • Hopefully they release the data sense app now they are officially releasing the handsets
  • More cowbell!
  • Love the cowbell reference.
  • I've a HTC 8X on Vodafone, had it since November, got it from Phones4U. What testing do they need to do if you can get unlocked devices like that and use them on the network anyway.
  • They will need to test their ad-on bloatware to see if it works correctly. I bought an unlocked HD7 that was originally sold by O2 years ago. Updated to 7.8 and I still have some O2 specific configurations on my phone.
  • They could have been launching these last year if it wasn't for exclusivity. But then it seems as if Nokia doesn't have the capacity to produce lumia phones fast enough.
  • That may be true for Nokia but what about HTC? Are they supply constrained as well? I chalk it up to the carriers having a wait and see approach regarding wp8.
  • Hmm I've had my Lumia 920 on Vodafone (UK) contract for the last week...
  • With a bit of luck Vodafone may produce an app too. Unless I've missed it.
  • Yea I'm waiting on an app
  • Had my 8x on Vodafone since December. I hope they do get
data sense out before my test drive expires.
  • I can say that as far as I know, as both a Vodafone Employee and a Customer with a Windows Phone device, there seems to be no information/news regarding the WP version of the "My Vodafone" app, however given the amount of weight we're throwing behind the Windows Phone 8 Launch, I personally feel that that might change in the near future.
