Windows 8 desktop designs make for nice Windows Phone wallpapers

While Windows 8 is still slated for an October 26, 2012 release we are discovering that the desktop wallpapers make for some really nice Windows Phone lock screen wallpapers.

Our friends over at 1800PocketPC have converted the Windows 8 collection of Start Screen wallpapers into Windows Phone lock screen wallpapers. The Windows 8 collection includes 69 of these colorful wallpapers and so far, 23 have been converted to 480x800 images.

The wallpapers are wonderfully drawn up, full of color and have that minimalist feel to them. You can find the collection of 23 lock screen wallpapers here or download them individually by following the link below.

  • I don't understand why anyone would choose someone elses wallpaper for the lock screen. I use my own pictures....the ultimate in personalization.
  • Maybe because they look good? Just a guess.
  • Some people don't want their own ugly mug on the front of their phone, or any of their ugly photos either.
  • Need it for more than lockscreen...there is a serious lacking in the customization department.
  • Where would you want a custom background other than the lockscreen?  On the Start page where 90% of the screen is already tiles?  Anywhere else would potentially mess with the UI text making it very hard to see as well.
  • +1
  • 90% of the start page and 100% with the next update, so yes this is a silly request.
  • wallpaper on lockscreen and desktop.  I dont' know where else you need a wallpaper.
  • Anyone know where I can find the full res Windows 8 backgrounds?  Are they available for download or hiding on my Win8 machine somewhere?
  • They are pretty abstract and beautiful. Pretty nice :)
