Windows Phone Apps

It looks like lots of Lumia apps for Windows Phone, including Panorama, Selfie, and Video Trimmer, have gotten the update treatment today. While there are no current changelogs listed for the updates, other than support for more devices in video trimmer and video upload, you may want to go ahead and grab them in hopes of squashing some bugs.

While a little late for Christmas miracles, we'll take it when it comes when it concerns Twitter for Windows Phone updates. That's what's happening today and it's actually a pretty useful update, too. Despite no new changelog in the Windows Phone Store, it looks like the headline new features are People Hub integration, sharing support for web links from Internet Explorer and some nifty new Cortana support for tweeting without the typing.

Every once in a while even we miss an app that has crossed the iPhone barrier to Windows Phone. Back in mid-December, Cycloramic evidently arrived for Windows Phone 8.1 devices, although it was just brought to our attention last night.

One big complaint has been addressed by the Skype team today for Windows Phone users: fonts and messages being too darn big.

Up until today, it was common to be able to see five contacts online in the Skype app for Windows Phone. After you take today's update, you can now see at least six contacts. The same rule applies for within conversations where you can see more messages on the display now, saving some scrolling.

Audible has the distinction of being one of the most favored brands for audio books, the perfect compendium for daily commuters stuck in traffic. Their Windows Phone app is rather nice looking and for a little while the company seemed to show Microsoft some love.

Now, however, that app is one of a few major ones withering in the Windows Phone Store, having seen its last update 14 months ago back in November 2013. In response to a recent tweet question, the company now promises a new update is on the way.

Spotify has released an update for Windows Phone to bring its app on par with its Android and iOS offering. The latest release - version 5.0 - includes a UI revamp that provides subscribers with an iOS-esque interface, deploying transparency and other visual features. While the new Spotify does not strictly follow Microsoft's Modern UI, the new look is actually rather nice.

The NFL season is truly into the final stretch now as the final four will tonight all make their claim to go to Arizona for one of the biggest events in world sport.
