Fat to Fit 7 Minute Workout – a Windows Phone app to help you burn calories and lose weight

For some, staying fit and trim is easy. Others it is a daily challenge to push back the calories and find the time to exercise. The Windows Phone app Fat to Fit 7 Minute Workout Burns Fat Lose Weight (yes, that is the title) hopes to help with those daily challenges. The app delivers an exercise routine that is under ten minutes and works both your upper and lower body.

Along with the seven-minute daily routine, Fat to Fit 7 also has a weight loss tracker, BMI tracker and audible countdown and time counting. In taking Fat to Fit 7 out for a test drive, the exercises involved in the routine will have you working up a sweat in no time. Fat to Fit 7 is a decent Windows Phone fitness app to consider but has room for improvement.

The interface with Fat to Fit 7 is really straightforward. The main menu has a big "Start" button to launch your workout, a button to view the eleven exercises and a button to track your weight.

The weight tracking has you completing a profile template that will establish your height, current weight and target weight. After you fill in the blanks, you may struggle to see the "save" button but it is at the bottom of the template screen. The dark graphics of the button blends in well with the background and you may have to slide up at the bottom of the screen to make it more noticeable. Once saved, Fat to Fit 7 will track your weight loss progress and Body Mass Index as you update your current weight.

There are eleven exercises that are performed for 30 seconds each with a 10 second resting period in between each exercise.

The eleven exercises include:

  • Jumping Jacks
  • Mountain Climbers
  • Plank
  • High Knee Run in Place
  • Hip Thrusts
  • Ice Skaters
  • Bicycle Crunches
  • Oblique Crunches and Planks
  • Knee Grab Sit Ups
  • Squat Jumps
  • Squat Thrusts

While the workout session will display a photo of the exercise if you need more detail on how to perform the exercise tap the Workouts button off the main menu. This will list all eleven exercises with a short description. The descriptions are decent but could use a little more information to guide you through each movement. A video or animated graphic of each exercise wouldn't hurt either.

Prior to the start of the routine, the app does note that you need a chair for the step ups and dips. In reviewing the exercises, I didn't see any dips or step ups that would require a chair listed. There is the Hip Thrusts that would require a chair though.

Nonetheless, when you are ready to start the seven-minute routine, tap the Start button on the main menu. Audible commands will begin by telling you when to start an exercise, note the half way point of each exercise and note the rest periods. The audible commands eliminate the need to watch your Windows Phone screen for activity transitions. However, there is a glitch that has the audible commands starting the next exercise four seconds before the end of a rest period.

If the need arises, you can restart each exercise by tapping the refresh button that sits in the upper right corner of the workout screens.

Overall Impression

Fat to Fit 7 Minute Workout Burns Fat Lose Weight is a Windows Phone fitness app with potential. However, the app still has a little work to be done before it can compete with the likes of 7 Minute Workout, Perfect Workout or even 6 Week Training. I like the design of the app and the collection of exercises will provide you with a decent workout. The issues seem to be with the execution of the design that holds this fitness app back.

First, make the save button stand out a little when you create a weight loss profile. It is an easy fix that could eliminate a little user frustration. Next, offer up a better description of the exercises (maybe add animated graphics or a video) and make sure the equipment needs match the exercises performed. If a chair is needed, include that in the description of the training as well to provide consistency in the directions. Lastly, make sure the audible commands are in sync with the timer. While an extra four seconds for each exercise isn't the end of the world, it just doesn't look right. Should Fat to Fit 7 receive a little fine-tuning,

I can see it being an option worth considering but as is, there are better alternatives out there. If you do give Fat to Fit 7 Minute Workout Burns Fat Lose Weight, let us know what you think of things in the comments below.

Update: Apparently over the weekend the price of Fat to Fit 7 went from free to $1.29 with no trial. There is a Fat to Fit 7 Free version that has become available and we have added the links below. The free version will not let you track your weight loss and is heavily ad supported.
