As expected, Microsoft today announced Nokia Map Technology as the core navigation of Windows Phone 8.

Featuring offline support,  NAVTEQ map data, map control for developers to integrate into their apps and full turn by turn directions, Windows Phone 8 will finally have a top line navigation system for free use.

As we mentioned previously, this mapping technology will be hardware accelerated giving a great user experience.

Rad! Does this differ from Nokia Drive in any way. It's impressive how you're able to crank out these articles so quickly. Keep up the good work!

Yeah most of the things *officially* announced are what we've already learnt bout ^.^ thanks to Daniel & WPcentral .

That's the question that matters, since the mobiles of everyone in this forum here will be stuck at wp7.8
Daniel, any ideas?

I strongly believe all current phones will get it because it's just going to be an update of the Nokia Drive that we currently have on the Lumia devices.

REALLY hope my 710 gets this with 7.8 update. im going travelling and want to view maps without using data. im on foot so DRIVE is no good!! cmon nokia.....PLEASE!!!
