In a blog post, Halo developer 343 Industries has revealed a first look at one of the customizations players will be able to use in Halo Infinite, dubbed an "armor coating." The armor coating is called Monarch and features purple armor plating with gold accents, giving off a regal look that's fitting for the unlock's title.
In the post, 343 Industries explained that the Monarch armor coating, as well as other in-game unlocks, will become available to use in Halo Infinite by purchasing special promotional snack items sold by Mondelez-owned brands such as Sour Patch Kids, Chips Ahoy!, and Oreo, among others. Though Halo Infinite isn't out yet due to its delay (which we ultimately support), many of these snack items have already hit shelves in the US and Canada, and it looks like players can input their codes here to make sure that they'll get their content once the game releases.
It's not clear what an "armor coating" is yet specifically, but based on this reveal, I'm inclined to believe that it's a type of skin for multiplayer. It will be interesting to see what other types of unlocks players can earn in Halo Infinite, either through gameplay or through purchase of promotional items, as we get closer to the game's expected release in 2021. You'll be able to play it on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One consoles, and Windows 10 PCs.
Do you like the Monarch armor coating? Let me know in the comments. Also, make sure to check out the Master Chief Collection while you wait for Halo Infinite, as it offers all of the pre-Xbox One Halo shooters for a stellar price.
