Add some extra juice to your Lumia 950 with Mugen Power's extended battery case

If you're looking to add a bit of extra juice to your Lumia 950, you may want to check out Mugen Power's extended battery case (opens in new tab). Packing a 6200mAh battery inside, the case's battery packs a little over double the capacity of the Lumia 950's built-in 3000mAh battery.
Along with all of that extra power, you'll be able to select from either white or black for your color options. According to Mugen, packs a non-slip surface for easy grip, along with a reinforced back door for a little added protection for your phone.
While Mugen's website says the extended battery case won't be released until September 30, you can already put orders in on Amazon for $99.50.

No love for the XL? :(
-
my thoughts
-
Lucky for me I have the 950! Though I don't need anymore battery just yet, another 6 months and for sure I'll have to pick one of these up. Would surprise me if they didn't release for the XL too, it seems to be the more popular phone of the two.
-
Don't forget the owner numbers for these phones aren't going to be able to really grow any further, there is a limited audience that isn't growing. I have a 950 but won't pick up one of these when a portable battery is pretty much as convenient. I've got a 21000 mah beast from Anker and since the 950 charges so quickly its not an inconvenience. Use it for weekends away all the time and it lasts the whole weekend for a 950 and the wifes iPhone 6
-
Well you could prolong charge to charge times with the the extended battery :P.
-
Best way to get a free battery is to return a phone so you keep the old battery. :)
-
You can buy one from China, OEM for super cheap. Why rip someone off.
-
I'm just happy to finally see don't love for the 950 haha. Feels like everything is for the xl.

Official response from Mugen: Thank you for contacting MugenBattery.com. Unfortunately, Mugen Power does not make the extended batteries for Microsoft Lumia 950 XL since the phone already has a bigger battery in it, and putting even bigger battery will make the phone too bulky and heavy. Thanks again for contacting MugenBattery.com and if you have any questions, please let us know. Oh well.....

Ah no, that is not the reason, what a load of BS from Mugen. >.> Oh well, it was always a long shot that there'd be support, good for 950 users at least. -
I just want a replacement battery of the regular one. For a just in case thing. I don't really want to add bulk. But this is good for other types of people.
-
Do Microsoft sell official ones? Would mind an extra myself. Hours long would one hold a charge if stored outside the phone once fully charged?
-
Microsoft does not sell replacements. I've asked
-
Which is so annoying... What's the point of a user-replaceable battery if we can't get any (official) batteries to replace it with? Such wasted potential.
-
Which is why they want to be a "inspirational" OEM then a traditional OEM... would be one of their "reasons". At least they could have sold replaceable batteries.... Then again Microsoft and Logic don't really go together.
-
I had to order one on Ebay from a chinese seller i think.
-
Have you found any other branded ones?
-
Amazon did Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
-
I ordered a oem one from China. When it arrived it was the exact same one... for 13 bucks. I am ordering more on Friday.
-
Can tell from which retailer/seller you bought it from? Thanks

That's all fine and dandy but its useless to me. Make one for the 950 XL, then you can take my money ;)
-
Is it qi compatible?
-
From the pictures on the website it doesn't look like it. And unless I missed something it wasn't mentioned on the webpage.
-
No
-
That's the hottest question. If yes, take my money. If not, i'll pass...
-
No, you cannot charge it wirelessly. Only Wired charging is supported on thi case.
-
I emailed them asking if one was coming out for the XL. If they do, I will be the first one on line.

How is the quality of the back cover on these?
-
It's softer than the stock cover. The finish scratches easily if enough pressure is applied, however it is super durable during drops and absorbs quite a bit of the shock. They sell a replacement cover as well in case something happens to yours
-
I saw this on Amazon the other day but thought it would made my 950 look ugly. Also my case wouldn't fit either.
-
been using this for a few months now and love it, especially for long outings/travel. At most I've had close to 48 hours
-
With that battery it's one fat phone :)
-
One of the reasons I was happy about Lumia 950 XL was the replaceable battery that is actually impossible to find. I thoght the advantage of having several charged batteries was excellent... but now it looks all Lumia line will be dead and if they did not release the batteries before now it will be more difficult to find.
-
I just bought one off ebay about one month ago for my 950 xl. Working fine so far!
-
This article says Mugen only make it for the 950, do Mugen actually make one for the 950XL? *EDIT* Nvm, you're talking about standard size batteries for the 950(XL). Yeah it's well-known you can get them of eBay/elsewhere, & they work fine. They may not be "official", but so far most folks have had no major issues. Anyway that's completely OT in this article, sorry...
-
how about the XL?
-
Expensive for a battery
-
Yep! Nice idea, but $99.50 is a ridiculous price for some battery cells and an ugly piece of plastic
-
I don't miss the wireless charging with this battery, it is nice not worrying at all about running out of juice in over 24 hours. The size is no problem for me, and it is nice not to have another thing to carry, like a charger or external battery. It takes no time to change back to the stock battery and case when I want a thin and light phone. This makes for a two devices in one experience, and with a $300 price for the phone adding$100 isn't that bad. This is good for trips...
-
I don't miss wireless charging either. happy tradeoff
-
Is call quality OK? I had a Mugen kit for my Lumia 820 but call quality was poor due to the new back doing something weird to the background noise microphone.
-
I used one but sent it back; it had problems with the camera when I took pictures with flash then the phone crashed reliably. Apart from that, it was a nice and durable battery, although the phone was not able to realize the extended capacity (the estimation from Windows was also never right but the phone lasted easily 48 hours).
-
Xl has a weird design for the battery. They may not make baterry for xl

-
What's "weird" about it? Cheers.
-
I might get it for my 950, but would love to see one for my 650 since i use it 94% of the time.
-
I got all excited until I saw the price
