Check out the content in the Halo 5 limited editions and the Xbox One console bundle

Halo 5: Guardians is still over a month away from release for the Xbox One, so there is still plenty of time to purchase one of the limited edition versions of the sci-fi first person shooter. Microsoft posted up a video that shows off all the extras you can get from these editions, along with the Limited Edition Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians Bundle.

The video shows the content contained in both limited editions of the game, which include a code to download a CGI animated series, Halo: The Fall of Reach, along with another code that will offer access to 14 of the game's Premium Requisition packs. Both will also come with a Spartan themed SteelBook, along with stuff like "Spartan Locke's Classified Orders", and "Dossiers on Blue Team and Fireteam Osiris". The $249.99 Limited Collector's Edition will also have the impressive looking commemorative statue of the Master Chief and Spartan Locke,

The Limited Edition Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians Bundle is a 1TB version of the console with a special art design for both the console itself and its wireless controller. It also comes with a digital code for the game. Halo 5: Guardians ships on October 27, but people who get either the $249.99 Limited Collector's Edition or the $499.99 Limited Edition Xbox One Halo 5: Guardians Bundle will be able to download and play the game early on October 20.

  • Pretty neat stuff. I still like digital content more.
  • I want a digital game and a hard copy of all they have
  • I am very excited for this game! I have the limited edition pre-ordered. The statue looks really cool.
  • Going to be an expensive fall. MS stock should do well.
  • This game..
  • Man, I've been planning to get this since they announced it (actually, since last year, becuase I knew it would happen). After seeing this video, I don't know if I want to now. You're still paying a $60 Halo tax, when compared to the Forza bundle (the Halo bundle costs $100 more, but only comes with an extra $40 of content, by upgrading from the $60 edition to the $100 one). The steelbook is OK, but kind of plain. The paperwork is "meh". The Guardian statue is really disappointing, and the way it comes and has to be assembled worries me that it could be very flimsy. The LCE statue is horrid. MC's armor is strangely brown, and it looks cheap. Honestly, that they want $150 for that statue is embarrassing, given Tomb Raider's statue is only $90, Mirror's Edge's is only $140, and for $140 with BO3, you coudl get a freaking fridge with the game (something Battlefront is including foronly $80). The Halo 5 LCE is one of the worst vlaues I've ever seen. Then there's that console again. I want it, but I have buyer's remorse just watching the video a month before I can even get it. If it were $450, I'd probably be locked in. For $500, I'm very torn. For starters, I'd MUCH prefer the Master Chief controller to the Locke one (meaning I'm going to buy the MC one either way), and I'd rather a console designed after MC than Locke. The whole setup feels like a desperate cash grab on a well-loved franchise. The controllers look good, the console's solid, but the rest is just uber disappointing.
  • But your paying for halo. Forza is amazing. But halo is halo. That's the extra 60 right there.
  • Except I'm not. I'm paying for NOTHING. Not buying this doesn't keep me from Halo. Here's how I see it: I can spend $400 on the Forza console, $100 on the Halo 5 LE, and I'll have everything from the Halo 5 console but the paint job. OR I can spend $500 on the Halo 5 console, and I don't have Forza. I'm not paying for Halo, I'm paying for a brand. This thing's basically the iPhone of consoles.
  • That's all cool. But to some people the halo decor is worth any price. Especially collectors of halo. I know a guy that paid £450 for the 360 halo limited edition console. That's around $600 at the time. Microsoft will sell all the halo 5 consoles regardless of whether you buy one or not. Collectors make the value what it is.
  • That's kind of my point, though. Just because I like it, and even buy it, doesn't mean I don't think it's ridiculously overpriced.
  • I agree about the chief's armor looking more brown than green, but given the circumstances it may have been a while since it's been cleaned.  It may look that way intentionally.
  • I believe it also comes with access to some Halo animated series on the Halo Channel, for whatever that's worth. I wish we knew more about it. I know it's done by the same people who did the Halo: MCC terminal videos (which were pretty good, I though), but it seems overpriced (the $90 version of the game has it, the $60 does not, so I guess they value it at about $30).
  • Yeah, I was tempted by the limited edition until I saw this video. Steelbook and all the paper stuff is lame. I wanted the guardian statue before, but it looks really cheap and flimsy as you said. I don't think the extra stuff is worth AU$70 extra (standard is AU$79 and LE is AU$148). The LCE statue looks alright but I think I'd rather buy a stand-alone MC one than that thing. And of course it's exclusive to those thieves at EB Games (i.e. Gamestop) so they've jacked the price up to AU$330. I don't see anything in there as a 'must buy' above the standard edition
  • Except you can't play it early. They do state in the video that you can predownload it so you'll be ready tonplay on he games release. Bummer. :( Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Take my money.  Dooooo it.
  • Meh. I'll wait for the collectors edition to hit the bargain bin. They always do. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Indeed, I spent $130 on the Halo 3 Legendary Edition, and it didn't take but a coupel of months for it to be around $80, and it STILL wasn't selling out. Maybe it'll be like the Titanfall CE that was $250 and didn't sell out until it started getting priced at $100. I'd pay $100 for the LCE.
  • Wow. Where do you live? I've never seen a collectors edition in the UK after launch in shops let alone bargain bin. Normally us Brits have to go on ebay and pay more than the release price if we want it after launch. If we don't preorder halo limited edition stuff here, there's no chance of ever seeing it in shops after release.
  • Lol not bargin but preowned thats usually what happens is people buy for exclusive dlc then dump
  • But that's my point. I've never seen for example the legendary halo 3 preowned or the halo reach 6 Spartan statue preowned. Its like trying to find a gold nugget in the sea.
  • It depends on the game. Skyrim CE was half price brand new a couple of months after launch (£60 down from £120) and I bought CoD: Ghosts Prestige Edition on Xbox One for around the same price (and looking on now you can get it brand new on Xbox 360 for £31, and the X1/PS4 versions were being sold for £34). Some CE on the other hand will become harder to find and/or go up in price a lot as you correctly said. This especially tends to apply to JRPGs, and some games will jump up in price for a short while before plummeting down (e.g. Mass Effect 3) as all those who bought them to make a profit then realise they're not selling and become desperate to get at least some of their money back.
  • Wish it was coming to pc
  • So will the eb exclusive version come with a dvd of fall of reach
  • Might have to cancel my Bestbuy pre-order as you can't change from the basic edition.
  • Time to go to my local store and inquire what they'll be importing for here. :)
  • I'd like to get the collectors edition but I have no money or space for the huge statue. It looks awesome however.
  • Nothing new I didn't know 2 months ago when I pre ordered the statue
