Dropbox updated with Project NEON design flourishes, performance improvements

Microsoft may be slowly integrating its new Project NEON design language into its own apps, but Dropbox is already shipping it to everyone with its app. As of its latest update, the Dropbox app for Windows 10 now sports a bit of transparent blur on its sidebar in the Project NEON style.

Aside from the sidebar blur effect, Dropbox developer Rudy Huyn points to a series of under-the-hood improvements that should make for improved performance. Keep in mind that the NEON flourishes will only be visible to anyone using Dropbox on the Windows 10 Creators Update. If you're dying to check it out, you'll want to make sure you've upgraded to Microsoft's latest.

Project NEON is Microsoft's next big design shift for Windows 10 apps, characterized by blurred, transparent UI elements. Microsoft concepts also point to an updated Start menu, parallax effects, and new fluid animations as well. We should see these improvements arrive in full for Microsoft's Redstone 3 Windows 10 update this fall, but we'll also likely get a deeper look at Build 2017 in May.

In any case, you can pick up Dropbox version 4.7 from the Windows Store now.
