Frostpunk is a city-building, survival, and strategy experience. In a frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. You, the city ruler, have to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastructure people live in. Leaders face numerous challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider to be an organized society. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management consume most of the ruler's time, at some point exploration of the outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

Today, 11 bit studios announced that Frostpunk is officially coming to consoles. The game will hit Xbox One and PlayStation 4 later this year. The team said that great efforts are being taken to redesign the game and adjust mechanics to support a controller. The studio admitted that it still has some work to do, but is close to creating an intuitive interface allowing gameplay to feel natural.

Luckily, Frostpunk: Console Edition will contain all the previous free updates from the PC version including "The Fall of Winterhome." However, additional customization options, difficulty settings, and balance tweaks will also make their way to the version.

In our review, we said, "Mechanically, Frostpunk is excellent, although one minor issue present with the game is that it can be hard to distinguish the different types of buildings at a glance because of their similar aesthetics... Despite the gameplay-slowing visual similarities between structures, Frostpunk overall is a wonderfully emotional and engaging city-builder strategy game that will challenge you with tough tasks and even tougher choices."
