  • Gears Tactics is a top-down tactical shooter from developer The Coalition.
  • It's coming to Xbox One "later in 2020."
  • The title is available for pre-load on Xbox One at the moment.
  • Gears Tactics will be part of Xbox Game Pass on the console.

Many months ago, Microsoft confirmed that Gears Tactics, the XCOM-like tactical shooter from The Coalition, was coming to Xbox One "later in 2020." Well, it looks like the day is approaching fast because now you can pre-load the game on the console through Xbox Game Pass. Many users are reporting this on Reddit and Twitter.

Gears Tactics is a turn-based strategy title set in the popular Gears of War universe. Following strategist Gabe Diaz, you're tasked with bringing down a high-value target known as Ukkon, a Locust scientist responsible for some of the horde's most biomechanical war beasts.

The title garnered great reviews at launch and Windows Central's Jez Corden said the following in his review of the game.

Despite some issues with polish in the late-game cinematics and an underdeveloped progression system, Gears Tactics remains an incredibly fun first-effort in what could easily evolve to be a core part of the Gears of War universe. It was awesome seeing the Locust again from another perspective, complete with one of the better villains we've seen from the franchise in recent years.

Are you excited to play it on Xbox One? Let us know. As expected, it's Xbox One X Enhanced.
