Gears of War 4 multiplayer to include dedicated server support and more

Gears of War 4 is still planned for a launch in late 2016, but Microsoft has plans to launch a multiplayer beta for the Xbox One sci-fi shooter sometime this spring. More info about the multiplayer portion of the game has now been revealed.

According to Game Informer:

"During the beta, players will be able to play as five of the campaign's protagonists. The first three are the three main playable heroes, JD, Kait, Del. The fourth is Kait's mom and leader of the Outsiders, a woman named Reyna. The fifth is Kait's uncle, Oscar, who is an ex-Gear soldier and expert survivalist."

Multiplayer will support 60fps and will allow gamers to play on dedicated servers. There will be three multiplayer factions, with one side playing as Gears of War 4's new Swarm enemies and the other side playing as human GOG soldiers or Outsiders. Splash Damage, the UK-based developer who has worked on a ton of games in the past, including Gears of War: Ultimate Edition, is helping The Coalition develop Gears of War 4's multiplayer modes.
