As AMD is preparing to unleash the second generation Threadripper CPU on the world, some insane discounts are starting to appear on the current generation. Amazon U.S. sold out of one deal in hours, but for folks in the UK, you can currently get your hands on a crazy deal on the 12-core Threadripper 1920X.
Currently, it's down to just £355 at Amazon UK, which considering the £280-£300 price point of the 8-core Ryzen 7 2700X looks extra enticing. Those 12-cores provide 24-threads, the CPU has a 180W TDP, and perhaps the most inconvenient part is that it requires an X399 motherboard.
The motherboards are still fairly pricey, but if you've been looking to build a seriously powerful workstation or perhaps a monstrous gaming or streaming PC, right now looks like a good time to do it.
