What you need to know
- Halo Infinite lead Chris Lee has confirmed that the game will take place on Zeta Halo, one of the remaining Halo rings.
- Compared to other Halo rings, Zeta Halo has a unique history centered around ancient humanity and the Flood.
- Chris Lee also provided some other details on Halo infinite, such as info on overall structure and plans for the future.
In an interview with GamesRadar, 343 Industries Studio Head Chris Lee confirmed that Halo Infinite, the next experience in the Halo saga, will take place on Zeta Halo. This was long suspected by lore theorists in the Halo community due to hints within Halo Infinite's trailers, but now it's official.
Compared to other Halo rings, there are some things that make Zeta Halo unique. For one, the ring is said to have a significantly lush and diverse ecosystem. Wildlife were present in both Halo Infinite's trailers as well as its official gameplay reveal, so players are likely going to come across plenty of interesting plants and critters on their journey. What's more interesting, though, is the history behind this Halo ring. In the Forerunner Trilogy of novels by author Greg Bear, ancient humans lived on this Halo ring during the reign of the Forerunner empire. When the Flood began threatening the galaxy, the leader of the Forerunners, Master Builder Faber, began to use these humans as test subjects to try and find a cure for the Flood. This means that there's a strong chance we will find the relics of ancient humanity on Zeta Halo — and there's also a chance we could have a run-in with the terrifying Flood parasite. In the rest of the interview, Lee went on to talk about various topics, such as how the game will feature a focus on open and expansive gameplay and the fact that Halo Infinite is going to act as a platform for 343 Industries to build on moving forward.
What do you think of the fact that we're officially headed to Zeta Halo? Are you excited about discovering the ruins of ancient humanity and/or possibly fighting the Flood again? Let us know.
