Internet Sharing spotted in the wild on the Lumia 800

The Lumia 800 (as well as the Lumia 710) is expected to receive a firmware update sometime soon to enable WiFi tethering on the handset, a feature that was introduced in the Windows Phone "Mango" update. We previously reported that Plaffo has confirmed a tethering update is on the way and all Lumia handset owners will be able to utilize the Internet sharing functionality - dependent on their carrier of course.

It would appear (looking at the photo above) that the feature is already active on some handsets, according to a We Love Windows reader. While it's not yet known when the said update will be pushed out to consumers, it's a positive sign to see Internet sharing actually on a Lumia 800.

  • that would be a great pic if anyone could read it lol anyone who doesnt already speak and read the language. :P but thats an awesome thing any idea on the us models when will we see these updates?
  • Is that a red gel case or a red phone?
  • I think it was a magenta in poor lighting. A red 800/900 would be epic, though... :D
  • That's the only thing I am holding on for.  I like the Cyan or Black Lumia, but I'm still waiting for that red one. I'll buy that in a heartbeat.
Also, I know the phone will be heavier, but I really love the 3d gorilla glass. Hope they put it one way or another to another iteration of the Lumia 900.
  • Buy a black Lumia 800 and get the red cover, its in the same format as the original that comes with the phone.
  • It would be cool to know the firmware version that includes this feature
  • Can't wait then l can get rid of my android phone it's all I use it for my lumia 800 should have had it as standard
  • A bit off topic, but I'm very happy w my 800 over the 900...i like the pixel density, even though I was more accurate w the focus keyboard
