Just Weather for Windows Phone 8, keeping it simple rain or shine

While the weather app collection for our Windows Phone is rather crowded, Just Weather is one of the latest offerings for Windows Phone 8. The simplistic, minimalistic weather app has potential but also has some room for improvement.

The intent is to deliver the basic weather information for two locations. Which is what you get but in using Just Weather, it felt like it was more of a work in progress than a finished product.

There's really not much to Just Weather. The app has three pages, two for your weather information and one for your settings.

Each forecast location has its own page that has the current temperature and weather conditions (weather icon) center screen. Down below you'll find a three day, extended forecast for that location.

Just under the current temperature is a gear that, if tapped, will send you to Just Weather's settings. Here you can enter you two city locations.

And that's all there is to Just Weather.

While Just Weather does deliver the basics, there is room for improvement. For starters, the settings need to allow for Celsius or Fahrenheit readings. Also, it would be great if there were some sort of confirmation on your locations as you enter them.  I can enter a fictitious location (Paduka, Al.) and the app pulled up weather information for that location.  Which makes you wonder how accurate information for legitimate locations is.  Fortunately, what weather information is pulled up for legit locations matches up with the current conditions provided by other weather apps.

Just Weather updates the weather information as you launch the app but lacks a refresh button if you need to update things while you're in the app. The last little nit is the lack of a Live Tile. With being limited to two locations, a Live Tile displaying both location's current conditions would make for a nice fit.

Still, while there is room for improvement what's in place lends itself to being a nice foundation the developer can build upon.  In a crowded field of weather apps, if you need a simple way to check up on the current conditions Just Weather might fit the bill.

Just Weather is a free Windows Phone 8 app that you can pick up here in the Windows Phone Store.
