Minecraft creators Mojang release their latest game, Scrolls, for Windows

As previously announced, Minecraft developer Mojang, now owned by Microsoft, have released only their second internally developed game, Scrolls, for Windows desktop users.

Scrolls is a fantasy-themed game that merges elements of card and board games, with players collecting scrolls to build a virtual army. Users can play what amounts to a demo version for free but they can upgrade to a full version for $4.99. Here's a quick list of its features:

  • A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE: Building your army is only half the battle. Develop strategies and take control of the battlefield. The best bits of card and board games, combined.
  • BUILD YOUR ARMY: We currently feature over 350 scrolls spread across 4 unique factions. You can mix and match them as you please.
  • PLAY SOLO, OR WITH FRIENDS: Scrolls includes single player challenges along with online competitive and casual play.
  • CHAT AND TRADE: Trade with other scrolldiers on the black market, or spend your hard-earned gold in our store. Chat with other players both in and out of battle. Please be nice.
  • CROSS PLATFORM: Develop your skills and scrolls library by playing on Tablet, PC, or Mac. Battle with others, no matter which platform they're playing on.
  • JUDGEMENT MODE: Build a unique deck in Judgement mode, then see how it fares against other's creations.

  • Wasn't Scrolls canceled? Or was it 0x10c?
  • Obviously not
  • 0x10c was cancelled I believe. They never spoke of it again. And I think it was only Notch that was working on that himself.
  • 0x10c was Made by notch himself , but he cancelled it cause of the pressure which was on him. Everyone was expecting him to build sth as ' amazing ' as Minecraft .
Although 0x10c had some impressive lightings ^^
  • This coming for windows phone eventually?
  • Windows 10 I guess.
  • People need to stop answering all questions regarding WP with "windows 10...". We know nothing of WP10 so the answer might as well be "who knows?".
  • I think he was being sarcastic.
  • Windows 10 "i guess" .... i "GUESS"
  • We don't know nothing of WP10 because there will not be any Windows Phone with 10 version. And I will not stop saying Windows 10, just like people will not stop complaining for anything.
  • ... It's the same runtime. So it doesn't matter if Win 10 or 8.1 ....
  • How do you know? And no, Windows 10 for phone will have full Win RT support.
  • I really hope so!
  • Wasn't it always available for desktops?
  • Does this mean that of we need any popular game on Windows Phone, MSFT should just buy off that company...! :P
  • Are new cards obtained in-game, or can a player go out and buy new cards. The pay to win model of Hearthstone has run it's course on me. Hopefully everything is obtained in game, for the set price.
  • Candy crush saga available now

  • Grow up buddy 60 MB is normal these days
  • Now complaining because the size? Lol...
  • @ronaldme, People will always find something to complain about....
  • Ya it is available. Thanks for info. But I believe it would be bad port from android. Posted via the Windows Central App
  • No man it work awesome. ;) try it out .
  • Woohooo
  • Damn I read "Windows Phone", but it was a subconscious thing.. too bad..
  • +1
  • Same... :(
  • Is the game touch friendly?
  • Not bad.
  • Saw this and I was hoping they released Minecraft for Windows 8.1/RT
  • Yeah, a nice game for me to much on while leaving order and chaos duels for a while. Will buy this. Perfect pricing.
  • Bring to Windows Phone!!! :D
  • And nothing on Windows RT. No Minecraft, no Scrolls. Well done, Microsoft.
  • because Microsoft didn't develop any of this? how much porting do you think can be done in 1 month Microsoft has owned Mojang. well done for not using your brain alittle more. ^________^ no but seriously, it's obvious Microsoft will port all these games to MS tablet and phone platform, or do you think Microsoft spent so much money to never bring these games to MS tablet and phone users but only android?. Maybe they will port it in a way that it can be easily used on Win10 for the "one platform" mindset thay are having... but anyway who knows and who cares today...  because no matter what you think, there is no One magical button that will port these games to WP or WinRT or xbox one in a day or a week or a month.
  • Is it Live enabled ?
  • Wil it work on Windows phone 7.8?
  • Lol
  • exclusive to Android on Phones and Tablets... good job Microsoft, you completely failed at providing for your own ecosystem first...
  • Looks fun
