Next Windows 10 for phones build will expand to a massive number of devices

In addition to a massively expanded list of supported devices, the blog post notes that Microsoft is looking to increase the frequency at which Windows 10 builds will be released for phones.

The increase in frequency for Windows 10 releases for phones follows a similar path that Microsoft recently laid out for desktop builds. On the topic of the rollout to more phones, the blog post reiterates that the previous limited rollout was due to a partition size issue:

"As I wrote in the accompanying blog post, the reason for this is that we had to select from the set of phones that had sufficient system partition sizes configured by the manufacturer. This was necessary for us to be able to in-place upgrade the phones. I also talked about a feature we were working on called "partition stitching" that would allow us to re-size the system partition dynamically, allowing us to do the upgrade on a larger set of phones."

And Microsoft isn't joking about that larger number of phones. Without further ado, here's the full list of phones that are expected to be eligible for the next build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview for phones:

  • Lumia 1020
  • Lumia 1320
  • Lumia 1520
  • Lumia 520
  • Lumia 525

The blog post doesn't detail when the build will be available, but it does note that Microsoft likely has at least one more week of testing to go. In any event, this is great news for those that have been patiently awaiting another build, let alone the massive increase in supported devices.

Update: For those wondering why the Lumia 930 is not yet on the list, there is a bug causing the "wrong scaling factor is applied to UX, causing everything to be teeeeeeny tiny" according Microsoft's Gabriel Aul. The bug may be fixed by the time the next release is out, but for now, that is why it is missing.

  • Lumia 930 isn't on that list but the Lumia Icon is... Doesn't make sense
  • Lumia 930 its like the Icon and 928.
  • Not its not gabe said on twitter its a bug specifically on the 930 they're working on
  • 928 and 930 are two totally different devices. But nevermind Gabe Aul already explained the absence of the 930 on the list... BUG
  • Hilarious! Stuff like this shows exactly what a joke of a device the 930 is. A buggy, recycled Lumia Icon with the added bonus of missing essential features. Flagship!
  • No, it goes into showing that they're carefully and perfectly optimizing the OS for each phone. Get some positivity man.
  • That is not how their model works lol.
  • If Microsoft doesn't get another flagship real soon I'll be jumping ship.
  • One will come between June to October.
  • Thats to long for me... Ill be jumping ship for a little bit and coming back
  • More to flagship, Microsoft is making better phones in entry level and mid range.
  • Why are so many people dying for flagships? Don't get me wrong. I also like powerful phones but why jumping ships just because there is not a phone that could rival the opponent's 4GB RAM or an octa-core processor? It does not make sense to me. I am just curious. PS: I have a Lumia 920 that I bought a few years ago but I don't find myself buying such an expensive device (₹43,000 = US $717) again given that the screen had yellow patches with just over a year of use. Technology is heavily flawed and I do not want to bet on it again.
  • Or a mighty phone!
People call them flagship if it gas the biggest processor or the most Ram, when windows Phone crunches with just 512mb of ram!
So all that hardware would be useless, but that is apt to the people!
  • Once you've expereienced 42 Megapixels - you don't want to go backwards.  Simple as that.  Been 2 years since the 1020 release.  It's time.
  • I honestly cant go back to a lessor camera sensor on my phone. Really hope the rumors that MS wont release a 1030/40 arent true.
  • Ms will not make another 1020... Accept it.
  • Exactly! It's all about the camera. I was using a 1020 and "stepped down" to a 1520. The loss in resolution definitely affects the zooming I do. I would LOVE to go back to a higher res camera. But the 1020 feels so slow at taking pictures... why MS wants to force us to choose speed OR image quality is beyond me. It's like they want to fail. So frustrating.
  • I'm with you on that, I have the Icon 20 megapixels which is the most powerful Windows phone that Verizon offers I wish they would get 6inch WP soon and bring back the Xenon flash (Lumia 928) dual led doesn't compare.
  • My phone feels old compared to the other phones out there... For one im tired of a 720 screen.
  • Yellow patches for you but yellow screen for me.
  • No shit dude, I have exactly the same issue. The IPS on my 920 looks horrible now. My next Lumia will be an LED. Might wait a while until the 930 is dirt cheap.
  • Because techy gadget people like having the best.  Plus, since it will be our device for the next few years people want to make sure they're future proofed.  Also, in North America our devices are subsidized b/c we pay such huge monthly data plans.  I can get a Galaxy S6 for $250 right now, if I wait until November when I can upgrade then it'll probably only be $100.
  • Microsoft is half-hearted about flagships because people don't buy them. I mean, they can do a flagship once in a while,, but they have realised their strength is midrange and lower range
  • The performance is just as great on a midrange phone as it is a flagship device, at least when it comes to windows phone. Android on the other hand there's almost a need for a flagship just to get halfway decent performance. I've owned a Lumia 920, and currently have a 1520. The performance is pretty much the same. The only thing I would expect out of a flagship device form Microsoft is a stylus or small kickstand for videos or something, more or less like a pocket Surface.
  • I'm going to call bull on that. The 920 was a nice device in its day, but it is very much showing it's age now. Having 1GB of ram on the device means re-launching toombstoned apps all of the time compared to the 1520. Faster CPU means a MUCH better gaming expierence. The faster onboard storage on the 1520 means that it loads apps faster. The improved radio means better WiFi and cellular connectivity. And don't even get me started on build quality as everything from weight, bezels, cameras, display, sensors etc. are better on the 920. I love my 920, if I could go back in time I would pick the same device (or possibly tell myself to wait for the slim version that fits easier in one's pocket in a case), but now nearly 3 years later it really does feel like a 3 year old device in need of a replacement.
  • Actually I am still loving my 920 and have no problem waiting until fall and saving $ on my monthly plan. Hopefully the next preview is worth installing and relatively glitch free.
  • Thank you. Ditto.
  • 920 still a huge device... But what about frontfacing camera? And the USB plug?? Thats a shame that on a flagship you have such big issues and absolutely no support!!
  • Agreed. The 920 performs admirably considering its age, but anyone telling you there's no difference between it and a 1520 has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. It's fine for use certainly, but there's no question it's quite a bit slower at many things.
  • I agree. I still have a 920 which is my first smartphone after my nokia n97 (haha). After two years the phone has lot of scratches but is still working fine. I had the pleasure to play whit a 1520 and 930 but to me the difference is not to big. Only the screen and camera are a huge difference.
  • Yet Apple has no problem selling a gazzilion iphones at $200-$500..
  • the iphone is more like $700. $200 is the subsidized price. you are just paying the $500 over 24 months. here's the problem with a flagship. you are spending $600-$700 on a phone. the iphone has all the major apps and gets the new apps first. windows phone doesn't. which one are you going to buy if the price is similar? on the other hand, when you are spending $100-$300 on a budget or mid level phone, wp is a good value. you get a solid device with good performace. until microsoft can resolve the app situation, they will have an issue on the high end. hopefully, windows 10 can get more developers on board.
  • And here in the US very few people pay full price especially for an iPhone due to they are expensive-even subsidized. With very few exceptions you don't get any discounts for paying full price.
You're right about the app situation.
Still not sure what the hoopla is with 10. Besides universal apps, what else is it bringing?
  • You nailed it
  • I can tell you, anyone with 1/2 of brain would NOT buy a $600~$1100 smart phns, cuz there are more apps. That has to be the dumbest decision making ever. I and many intelligent ppl buy smart flagship smart phns for ITS FEATURES, NOT APPS. I have about 40 apps on my Lumia 1520 and that's ALL I NEED. I don't give a crap there are 1 trillion USELESS apps in CrApple's iOS or Android. However, I LOVE my 20pix, 4K recording Camera with Surround Sound recording, 3400mAh Battery, 6 Inch 1080p screen, FULL NFC(NOT limited like iJUNK6/6+), Glance sensor, Hay Cortana to wake, double tap to wake, Awesome WiFi, Wireless charging capabilities, ........................and many more on my 1520, that the Overrated, WAY overpriced JUST TO FOOL iSHEEP to think is so good and better like Gold Painted POOP, Hyped-Up, Garbage,.........iJUNK6/6+ which Does """"""""""""""""""""""NOT"""""""""""""""""""" have ANY of my 1520, Icon, 930's features, to this date(till they COPY it and FOOL ppl they invented everything, like the NFC, Big Screen Phablet phns,..................along with many things they have COPIED from other brands). So NO intelligent ppl do NOT buy flagship phns, cuz there are 10 trillion useless apps are out there. I for sure don't, or even give a crap. As i mentioned i LOVE all the preinstalled AWESOME apps, and my 40 downloaded apps. that's ALL I NEED.
  • Except that Windows phone flagships don't cost anywhere close to the iPhone. I got a simfree/contract free Lumia 1520 32GB version for £360 new on Amazon in Sept 2014. The equivalent sized spec iPhone 6 Plus would have cost me somewhere in the region of £750 - in fact that would have been for less storage as iPhones now go 16 >> 64
  • Iphone is $600-$1100. That you get them on loan from your carrier does not mean they are cheaper.. In fact they're even more expensive over the duration of the contract.
  • The moronicisim is strong in our peers...
  • Yeah, when every carrier is offering free or waving early upgrade fees for users come get the next iteration.
  • People don't buy the mid and low-end devices either. People buy them just fast enough to keep their numbers up from attrition, but not fast enough to grow the market. That is not a strength. The reason there is no flagship is because they canceled what they were going to release. It was a judgment call to release an underwhelming/broken 'flagship' or wait another year and make lemonade with low and midrange devices. It is annoying, but likely the right call.
When we do get another aspirational flagship device then we will start seeing celebrities and business leaders trying it again. If they like it, then they will start pushing them out to their staff, and people who want to 'be like the boss' will jump on the platform even if they cannot afford the flagship. Flagships are high profit but low volume and they earn their keep, but only just. But without a flagship there is no demand for the bulk low and midrange devices on the market.
  • Perhaps an iPhone for you?
  • OK, which phone are you using currently?
  • When w10 is released.
  • Same. Im waiting till build for Microsoft to rlease their flagship. Yhey shoild reveal at least 2 flagships at build. A 1040 for the camera phone users like me and 1540 for the phablet fans. I hope they wont reveal a flagship gimmick such as the 830 was. If they wont reveal a good phone, I might get the S6 Edge. Microsoft has been delaying the release of a new flagship for a long time and if they want the high-end users to switch from Android, they need a good flagship. It dosent matter they dont sell well. There must be a choice of a flagship in the maeket when a consumer walks into a store or lools for one online
  • No phones at build... Too early
  • My contract ends in October, so I have some time. Microspft is just releasing too many low end phones
  • Oh no..... Erm.... bye!!!!!
  • If Microsoft releases a good flagship, Im not going anywhere.
  • Dude, stop threatening the platform.. Just go and leave!
  • I was with WP since Lumia 800. Then I switched to 820, then to 925 and then to 1020. But Microsoft, dosent seem to care about their high-end users. Just think about the amount of times a new phone was about to get revealed and it was another low-end. It wont be the same as there was with Nokia. There wont be that many choice. With Nokia there was rhe 1020,1520,925 I could keep going on forever. My guess is that Microsoft will only reveal one flagship this year. It will never be the same. I love the platform but Microsoft is giving me no choice. I have all my devices centered around Windows. I only use Microsoft services. Even if I leave Ill still use Microsoft services. If Microsoft reveals a good flagship, Ill probably stay. If Microsoft reveals a succesor to the 1020, then Ill definitely stay.
  • Let me get the door for you.
  • No need to. Staying till October. I really hope Microsoft will reveal a good flagship. The current phones are a joke to the dedicated fans. I will soon be reaching 5 years with Windows Phone. I was with the platform since the 800
  • I got the Lumia 1520 in Sept 2014 upgrading from a Lumia 925 - it is a fantastic phone. Agreed the 6" screen size puts some people off but it makes it so good for viewing content I just don't care. Hopefully MS will release a Surface brand phone as the flagships (3 would make sense - 1020 replacement, 930 replacement and a 1520 phablet replace) and the Lumia brand can be used for all their low and mid range phones. I really hope my above statement comes true - and lets face it Surface hybrid laptop/tablets are premium items (I have Surface Pro 3) just like Apple so it would make a lot of sense for MS to do this.
  • Agreed. I wish for a Surface Phone with 41MP so it can replace my 1020. A surface phablet will have a big market for the 1520 fans. And the Surface Phone( 930 successor) would be the main Windows flagship
  • Just curious, what technology are you expecting that you will be replacing your current phone with? a Lumia 1520 has quite awesome specs, there's not much higher out there, and it's not really all that noticable with a little faster processor, or increased amount of RAM.
  • np
  • Dude, the icon is a crippled version of the 930 not the other way round
  • Enlighten us on how the Icon is different then the 930 besides the CDMA antennas.
  • The bug prolly has to do with the GSM version of the 930. Prolly connectivity related would be my guess
  • Lumia Icon doesn't have double-tap to wake, Lumia 930 does ;)
  • Not even if you change the kernel?
  • The Icon has xenon flash, iirc...? Muuuch better!
  • No, that was the Verizon Lumia 928, which was the precursor to the LED flash carrying Lumia Icon. 2 steps forward 1 step back.
  • 928 uses Xenon not the Icon
  • Wow you a derp! 930 is One of the less buggy phone i ever had! Do you know what you are talking about sometimes? Obvious not..
  • I'm sorry, do you even have a 930?
  • I agree - my 930 has to many bugs, gets too hot, kills often battery and finally THERE IS NO GLANCE SCREEN?! I thought that I can live after Nokia 808 without that, but acctually YOU NOT!
Here are some bugs: double click fo wake-up sometimes works sometime not in some reason screen goes black and locks after starting the call out. To get back screen you need too press twicly power utton and than slide up screen - its very annoying...! you cant use quiet hours without cortana uoy cant make fonts bigger in every app - speccially in lumia camera it is almost impossible to see any numbers?!
  • @Elar Vinge yup, I am currently having all these problems with my 930 as well, I only started noticing it a week ago, I am not sure Microsoft is aware of this.
  • You have a faulty proximity sensor :) This would prevent doubletap to wake and make your screen go black when making a call ;) Could also be a screenprotector that is loose in the upper right corner causing a false proximity reading
  • These are mainly defects you don't Screw up the community for such a reason like that!
    And that's what people think!
Because this (Windows phone) is a small community people don't see themselves betting on!
But they don't care I Apple launches a bad update software or a stupid bending phone!
Because they are stereotyped as a good making phone company!
While for Microsoft they see us as a just software making company!
    And so that's our purpose!
To improve the community with constructive criticism! Instead being a jerk!
We make Windows grow as if our life depends on it!
We give the example and then we will se the benefits!
  • Hilarious...so the Ms meeting of WP10 TP didn't go like this?.....I'm so confused...
    ...
Microsoft Employee recounts Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview Release Day
    http://youtu.be/z3nXHAQa-gQ
  • I love that! I hope we get to see more from these Microsoft Employees.
  • It is my absolute favorite YouTube video...the laugh.
  • Funny vid
  • It tis..
  • Wait, the Icon is the buggy one, missing features like double tap to wake. Don't crash our Verizon customer pity party here!
  • Dumbass comment extraordinaire.
  • Aren't the Icon and 930 the same thing expect icon is exclusive to Verizon?
  • Yes, and he also said that the reason why the initial Build was not available for many devices was the "partition stitching"... but that beta runs great on my 920 and 930.
  • "Wrong scaling factor is applied to UX, causing everything to be teeeeeeny tiny." -Gabe Aul, in response to a question about the 930 bug.
    https://twitter.com/GabeAul/status/581637849142808576
  • I can prove that is bullshit. Been running the tp on my 930 since day one.... Chinese hack of proxy
  • Yeah, MS left the 930 out just to annoy you, Fndlumia, specifically. /s
They obviously have what they think is a valid enough reason to omit the device.
  • Joe Belfiore demo the TP on a Lumia 1520 and it didn't make it to the 1st release due to Partition Stitching (along with many other devices). He then demo the 2nd TP on a Lumia 930 and now it will not be making it for the 2nd release due to Unique Bug. He is spending too much time on his hair or his hand is cursed.
  • Are you regurgitating? I read this same exact post on WMPoweruser. Just saying :-)
  • I don't think any of you guys actually understood what they meant when they said partition stitching.
  • I honestly don't. Can you explain it carefully, please? Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • Ehhh, too much effort
  • When they install the OS they have different storage partitions For OS, Swap Files, Apps, Storage and so on, These are to small to hold W10 on the affected devices and the only way to update them without formating the complete device and setting up new partitions is through stitching togheter some of the excisting partitions. When they show off a device on stage it is flashed from a computer and they don't have to care about excisting partitions or usere data that you want to keep. Also the bug on the 930 can be related to things they don't show on stage like something related to the cellular systems.
  • Well I'm glad someone felt the initiative to do it for me...
  • See my YouTube video of wp10 TP above for clarification...its only 40 seconds...
  • I think they meant 929, not 928
  • Icon is aka Lumia 929 Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Unleash the petty bitch ass bickering:
  • Yes it does, I get the update and you don't. Makes sense to me.
  • I hope so, otherwise, I would be really disappointed :/
  • Well, with the news this week with many people going back to 8.1 it's no surprise this list came out so quickly. Coincidence?
  • And what you're trying to say is....?
  • Like they care? We get beta updates when we get em. No biggie.
  • To me they actually do care.  They got some negative news, then viola, new devices show up on the list.  A long new list.  And moreover, I belive it's a technical preview and not a beta there is a difference.
  • It might as well be a beta compared to the previous Preview For Developers program. But in my experience, Windows 10 for phones is pretty well-rounded.
  • I hope W10 is a smash hit for phones/laptops/and desktops.  I'm not too keen on some of the changes but overall I think MS is on the path they envisioned.  I hope the new Flagship phone will have been worth the wait.
  • Dude...preview for developers and the technical preview are two different things. Pfd isn't a "previous" program, it's a current program that will probably be utilized for W10 when it gets released
  • Precisely.  They are different.  The point was it's not a beta.  :)
  • The current Windows 10 build is most definitely beta.  The whole reason MS set up this new program is becuase this build is not being presented as final and it clearly has numerous bugs and lacks features that a day to day phone would require. Just as Windows 10 is beta on pcs, so it is for phones right now.
  • Let me guess.. A small subset of users aren't happy; nevermind that the majority are there to have the latest and greatest and feel good about it, rather than give actual feedback. Besides, if you trusted the rumor mill, everyone 'literally hates the unfinished UI'...
  • For me that list will only come alive when the preview is pushed through, right now its still dead and mere say. I wish they would only make such statements 24 or 48hrs to actualizing that the same. What I mean the preview should be out by now since this list came out. We had actually forgotten about wp10.
  • Lumia 929/930 is the Icon
  • Why are people going back to 8.1? I was dual-booting when 10 came out and hated when I had to boot to 8.1 so much that when the next update for 10 came out I did a clean install with 10 only. Not. Going. Back. Ever.
  • You were dual-booting Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 for phone?! How?
  • Surely referring to PC.
  • dude you are in the wrong post !
  • Where'd my crack pipe go? This dudes smokin something much more premium...
  • Bwahahahaha Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for QWBASIC :|
  • +1
  • There's a reason why people like us go back to 8.1. Not that we don't love 10 but our nature of work demands 8.1 because some of the things are still broken on 10. You meant for PC I assume.
  • You can dual booting ps, but phone?
  • I am dual booting Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 OS for PC on my Macbook.
  • I have icon. But I'll install on my 928 to test drive
  • Don't expect 930 to be upgraded to W10 anytime soon.
  • I was wondering about the same thing, but I am not gonna testing with my main device. Will try it out on my 1520 as soon as it comes out.
  • What 1520 isn't your main device? Then what is?
  • +1 Lol
  • I was perfectly happy with my 920 and bought a 1520 to play with Windows 10 for Phone.  But decided to use the 1520 since they didn't support it right away for 10.  I'm so pissed at the stupid touch screen sensitivity issue, that I'm ready to use my 920 as my daily driver again and use the 1520 to play with for 10.
  • MS switched my 1520 with faulty touchscreen for 930 & I'm so pleased they agreed to do so after much to-ing and fro-ing with them about it
  • That's good service and good to hear.  But I bought mine on ebay for 2 bills in like-new condition, so I guess I can't complain too much - but the screen issue is a bit embarassing.  Was just a few minutes late to pick up the 830 a couple days ago for the same price new from ms store.  Looking forward to a new flagship.  Funny how much I just wish my 920 had quad core and sd...it would be perfect for me.
  • I never had those touchy issues on my 2 1520's...you sure your manhandling her right?
  • Right?! Damn near every Lumia but the 930.
  • 520 in, 521 out
  • Yes, it seems like the best selling low end phone was passed over.... makes no sense!
  • +1320
  • What is with non Nokia Lumia phone like Samsung ativ s?
  • It's better/convenient/logical to test internal software with your own hardware. Ergo, no win10 build for non-Lumia
  • I hope so, too. The problem is that even the Ativ S comes much later with the official release. As a preview would be perfect in advance.
  • Why not Zoidberg....¿
  • The Icon is just the name given to the 930 in the US
  • Blame Verizon..its their shit preinstalled apps ...why do you think it took forever and a day to get cyan and jumped to Denim? Think people think. Wtf?
  • @thetealharmyb: No shit, really?
  • Well, the thing that concerns me is that no HTC phones are supported, so I won't be able to try it on my old 8S.
  • I'm pissed cause I cant use TP on my iPhone, galaxy of any dimension, and my god damned Atari 2600 (I miss my ET too, gottsa get me one up out the ground in New Mexico where they laid them to rest) plus my ColecoVision...that's some bullshit right there...see it? Don't step in it..it ain't comin off if you do...gotta throw them boots out, but bury them cause their gonna stink to high heaven forever.
  • It's not fair
  • That's ma point.
  • What is dtv? I have 535 DS
  • What about the one m8
  • Haha so pretty much every other Lumia device!
  • I guess! All of the ones I own are on there :D
  • Yessss finally. Still don't have denim but thankfully stupid t mobile isn't in charge of software updates.
  • Yea! Maybe it'll stop the resuming bug on my 1020.
  • Made sure you do not have battery saver mode active? If not, see if your apps are blocked from running in the background in the battery sense app. If none of that works then I guess it is a bug.
  • Search for resuming bug on this site and follow instructions to remove live lock beta. Worked for me and others I helped.
  • Tried that to no avail. I don't think I have battery saver active, but I'll check. I think it is just a result of my phone being nearly two years old. *cough we need new flagships*
  • Yeah. That's a good news :)
  • And then the 640 is left out for another year. Can't wait for its release
  • No 521? Noooo...
  • Same as 520 so eligible
  • I'm assuming the presence of the 929 on the list means the 930 is also eligible.
Not that WP10 is really worth it yet... Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • The is no 929. It's called the Icon
  • It's model number is 929 though isn't it
  • Right. It is the 929, but Verizon wanted an actual name for the phone.
  • Whose model number is 929, no matter what Verizon calls it. I'm European, I rather use the traditional numbering system ;) Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • The 930 is not eligible because of a device specific bug that MS are trying to squash.
  • Where did you get that info? Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Like 90% of people here, Gabe Aul's Twitter.
  • Unlike 90% of people here, I don't make a habit of stalking him on Twitter ;) I'll go look into which lame excuse they came up with this time. Thanks Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Lol...I like DJCBS, he's funny...."mom, can we keep DJCBS? He's funny...I need another step-dad anyway...the other four didn't work out...."
  • Nah, I think he will be one of the reasons why MS will not invite people to test their software any longer. The ungratefulness is truly atrocious.
  • Don't give ms ideas
  • Yeah..."ungratefulness"? LOL You do realise Microsoft profits more from this than you, don't you? Unless you've been sleeping or living under a rock, you should have realised by now that you're a guinea pig for Microsoft. You do know that these "tests" and "try outs" are normally done by people that get paid to do it, right? By putting it out to the masses, Microsoft isn't really being Mother Teresa. Microsoft is taking the chance of cutting costs by having people test out the software for them, for free.   Don't be so naïve.   (On a side note: sorry if I have a hard time believing that some random problem prevents the 930 from getting the preview yet the 929, the exact same phone with a different name, doesn't have it. I'm sure I'm a heathen who doesn't believe everything Microsoft says to be Gospel.)
  • Just ignore him..
  • Totally. Amazing how so many people cannot see the obvious, eh?
  • Looks like Gabe tweeted that...
  • Take a look on twitter...

  • Can't wait! Have a couple 520's and 1020 just for testing.
  • True. The amount of anticipation is just too much...
  • 810 is there, but I'll just wait for the official release.
  • It's a miracle!
  • I missed the sale of the 830 this week. By the time I got home the sale was over. :( That would've been my next phone.
  • Ehh, you're probably better-off waiting. The W10 replacement shouldn't be far-off, and even a 6xx or 7xx device with W10 should carry similar or better internals.
  • Microsoft/Nokia never abandoned the 810 afaik. That was T-Mobile. T-Mobile had discontinued it, and therefore never tested or pushed out updates. I highly doubt T-Mobile will be testing/pushing the official Windows 10 release to the 810 either. So unless Microsoft has some grand plan to finally bypass carriers, you'll need to be an Insider and download the last released build (when it comes) to get it on the 810. A miracle would be if T-Mobile acknowledged the 810 ever existed... and pushed out Windows 10 for it.
  • Yes.  You are correct.  I forgot my 810 is running the 8.1 technical preview.  There will be no "official" version.  :)
  • No HTC one? Boooo Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • No, it is running the 8.1 Preview for developers.
  • Wow glad I kept my unlocked 810 will be interesting if MS does actually bypass the carriers. They did announce that a while back due to the fact that they need to keep updates going for the OS. Heck they own the phone/OS and the world so why not? If anybody can do they can... and it will trail blaze a new path for updating phones. Since I retired the 810 it's no big deal to me and really don't care anymore if it happens great! if not well, were used to being dissapointed cause we are proud 810 peasants lol.
  • Yeah it was weird seeing the 810 on a list of devices ready for an upcoming update lol. Might breathe some new life into mine
  • mine too. A bought a cheap BLU Win HD to run 10 on for development, but that's not yet on the preview list. Time to bring the 810 out of retirement.
  • I'll use my 620 for testing.
My 822 is the main daily driver.
  • +822
  • Awsome phone.
  • I'd like your review in 620 forum when it released. I really want to try W10 but I'm afraid I only had 1 phone.
  • same here, but i'll install bcoz it is tech. preview not beta , so i guess its already tested.
  • Just a clarification, this is pre-beta, not the other way around. Beta versions are nearly ready to be released, tech preview isn't. More bugs and far less refined.
  • oh god please no lol this is a huge misunderstanding. Technical Preview is actually an earlier stage than BETA. We are getting builds that only people from within the company would get. This is not really tested as much as you might be thinking, WE are the ones actually doing the testing for real world use lol
  • I wonder how many people actually read what they're signing up for when they access the insider program???
  • Not many actually read it coz of they did they either wouldn't understand it or not sign up
  • Like everyone said, tech preview is pre-beta version. It's completely different with developer preview which kinda like RC version.
  • 822 is an excellent rock solid dependable phone. The best I've ever owned.
  • Fucking yes. Finally. I'd rather die with MS than change again to Android or iPhone. +1020
  • +1520
  • Hell yeah! L920
  • Hell yes! +1520
  • Sure +1020

  • Lol just messin 920 and 830 combined.

  • Well, on the app we have no up or down vote option. You must be on your moms PC in the basement..be sure to wipe away the vaseline from the keyboard before you give it back.

  • Moneyyyyyyyy!!!! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Quickennnnnnn!!!!!
  • Lol
  • No. It should have been "looollllllllllllllllllll".
    Thank you. :P
  • No, loooaaannnnnn...ia what should follow quicken..
  • Lmao no HTC one m8? That's funny.
  • Why is it funny
  • Because of how irrelevant it and HTC are. I am shocked to see no mention of it though.
  • Well it makes since to release it on Lumia first because Microsoft owns it. Let all the Lumias work out the bugs let HTC get the better builds lol.
  • I think it has more to do with the firmware that comes with it. Obviously Microsoft's internal dev team has access to builds quicker than HTC does, so it's not really surprising at all that no other OEM has it. Similarly, Google released Lollipop to Nexus 5 phones on a preview before other phones, and I'd call Nexus pretty irrelevant in the smartphone market. It has less to do with HTC being irrelevant (mainly because they're not) and more to do with the obvious fact that Microsoft is the one building the OS, so they would obviously implement the preview on their own devices. I mean.... you wouldn't call Dell irrelevant because the Surface Pro 3 got Continuum first. That would be ridiculous lol
  • ^^ this makes perfect sense
  • To add on to what you said...Lumia 810 has an easier restore method than my HTC does. I'm sure the ability to restore if something isn't working is no small thing.
  • HTC is irrelevant according to 1.3% percentage of phones being sold :P of 60 million phones estimated that means that 780,000 of them are only HTC total. Which is likely more so for their 2012/2013 model and not the largely irrelevant but still decent m8 that was released last year :)
  • HTC is still important as the alternative to the Lumia line.
  • Not really lol. Important alternative? I'd say blu is more of an important alternative on the low end and most people don't buy HTC high ends.
  • Blu really they make great devices for low end but HTC is the only other option on high end samsungs offering is a rehash of its galaxy s4 something that's soon to be two generations old and until ms decides to make the newest flagship is the HTC one m8
  • Although I have the HTC X8 I'm not mad at MS (like a lot of people here) because a understand that updating a non Lumia device is hard for MS
  • "HTC is irrelevant according to 1.3% percentage of phones being sold :P" You're irrelevant. Please go away now.
  • Aw that was mean :P
  • Don't talk like that. Windows phone is irrelevant at 2.7% you go way too then.
  • It s at 4% man, be honest ....
  • I thought it dropped to 3 %
  • Also the key difference is....dell actually sell. In the windows arena, it is not a complete one sided dominance. On the windows phone side it is and HTC is irrelevant in that aspect.
  • Micah, I'm surprised no one is bashing you for anti-HTC comments...your vacation proves what people say about short term memory and the public. Don't get me wrong, I appreciated your battles... I love me some good trolling, fine, premium entertainment.
  • They can't even fix yet there own devices. So I think its still better to focus on lumia devices now.
  • Samsung isn't there too :) BLU and others as well
  • Don't fall off your high horses guys... (I own a HTC 8XT & Lumia 635) I'm on both teams now, but come on.. While were at it, let's stop the stupid +XXX thing too.
  • +8X
  • Ok Mom, we'll listen you...we'll be in bed by 9pm...*opens bedroom window to see friend waiting below to catch the rope ladder...*
  • About as funny as you......
  • Well, I could have said your mom cought the ladder below so we could go frolic...lighten up man..or woman...or hermaphrodite.....
  • Because it's HTC one m8, HTC need to be m10 to get Windows 10
  • Lol this is the most clueless comment I've seen.
  • Can't wait to have the preview on my Lumia 1520.
  • Trust me...its not worth it (yet)
  • I disagree: I have it on my 920 and my 930 and I prefer it to Wp8.1. Personal opinions/impressions vary....
  • Obviously, the build released for L1520 will be different than the one we are currently using. So your words don't hold good.
  • And trust me, it worths. M using it on my 630 as a primary phone without major bugs. Much better thn 8.1
  • For two reasons I rolled my 730 back
    1. Buggy, slow and no where as responsive as 8.1 (I did do a hard reset after install)
    2. Didn't offer anything substantial over 8.1, in fact it misses a few of the basic functionalities
And I used 10 since the day it came and rolled recently, so gave it a solid month but its not there yet.
  • the build you had and the one which will be releasing in upcoming days is different... so trust me it is worth it...
  • Sure it would be better than the build I had but it still would not be complete....
  • @Rajat Malhotra if you're looking for a complete build, stay in WP8.1 and don't even think about installing a TP and expect a "complete" functionality!
  • What functionalities are missing? I am planning on using the tech preview with my 920(which is also my daily driver). If there are many basic functionalities missing, I would rather wait for one or two updates rather than jumping. So can you tell me what was the deal breaker for you???
  • To name a few....battery saver doesn't work proper, Cortana seems to be a bit off and u cant save images from IE few apps don't work properly (easy transfer doesn't work, WhatsApp is somewhat slow)
And the phone heats up considerably during continuous use
  • Heating and WhatsApp might be a problem for me.... Thanks for the info :-)
  • I had trouble with battery saver when I did a clean install of denim on my 1520...it resolved itself over a couple weeks.
  • Bare in mind that a few problems are device specific....for eg the dropdown notification lagged a lot on my 730 but was pretty smooth on my friends 630..
  • You guys are talking like the preview is so bad. You can only speak for the old preview there is a new update co.ing to what they started already ya know. Having only two months left before lunch I am.sure there gonna have something good up there sleeve to show the people.
  • I never said its bad.... It's a preview after all...its not worth it (yet) to have on your daily device....and two months is a long time in tech.
  • The 810 is alive!
  • Is that really true?? L810 are WP7 devices no? Wow! Great!
  • The 810 is a variant of the 820.
  • No...the 810 was a wp 8 device.
  • Wow so they really meant it when they said all WP8 devices! ^^
  • No 930 or m8 though...
  • Awesome, my old 920 is ready for Windows 10 :)
  • My body is ready, too.
  • Reggie lol
  • Dude.... You are in wrong forum :-P
  • My 920 as well. Perhaps the fact my 930 may not be set to update yet will save me from myself. The 930 is my daily driver, so I'll chill for a bit longer.
  • Microsoft has been pretty lame lately. At least update us on the process and not let us wait almost two months to just say that yea, you're expanding the list of phones. No news of new features or anything. That is poor communication, which they've been noted for. At least Gabe is trying now. This next build better have some great features involved. They've been moving too slow if they really want our help in improving the mobile OS. And no, this isn't about feeling entitled. Hope we haven't waited and given feedback in vain. And why not list the 930 ? Unless that is with the ICON. Lets see.
  • or they could announce and shut up until launch date? Noone else lets us fiddle with OS development builds this early in the development process. Apple did closed betas for iOS, Android had an L Preview, but otherwise nothing like this Insider program.
  • But the basic features that others have for years like OTG is still not available on our OS which make me mad. I don't worry about number of apps in the store but basic support and less restriction (app locker) which will allow developers to develop the required apps I all I ask.
  • You mean that android and apple which basically own the mobile platform market share doesn't have an insider program like Microsoft, which btw, has a ridiculously and shameful marketshare% ?
Oh please. Apple and goodle DONT NEED TO DO THIS. People will use whatever they put out REGARDLESS because they basically own the marks and have many features already which our platform is missing.
This is about wanting to help Microsoft's platform better for everyone. Especially those of us who have been with them from the beginning.
  • Is it really poor communication? I don't think so. The Windows TP for Phones is basically useless, as there is not even enough time left for Microsoft to respond and change things based on feedback. Windows 10 is planned and a done deal on Phones, otherwise Microsoft wouldn't have dragged their feet for such a long time and there wouldn't be such a limited set of supported devices with the "first" preview build. Microsoft does not give a rats ass about feedback unless it is for their beloved desktop OS. Windows 10 on phones is a recycled Windows Phone 8.1 with new Office Apps included...
  • Agreed
  • I don't get it. Don't you come here often? Read what is new about 10? Code parity? One Store? Write once run everywhere apps? Even android maybe? Where were you? Of course the OS is new!
  • You do not have to completely rewrite the OS inorder to allow a slightly changed App Platform to run on it. What Microsoft basically did was to take the WP OS, decouple all Apps from the system and call it a new horse. No changes to the Tilesystem and the Startscreen, and a jumbled design mess across the whole system. Just compare the Messaging, Phone and Settings App in the preview, navigation and design differences, its basically laughable. Android apps on WP? Lmao. Let the day come where Microsoft decides to let Android Apps run on WP. I'll be the first to jump ship.
  • This is a good start for them but in their position, Microsoft needs to do MORE regardless of how new the OS feels. They are begin and thus must make the extra effort.
  • This is how I feel and what is frustrating as a consumer who WANTS to use this platform.
  • Apart from the fact that MS is always late in whatever they are doing, I feel like they want first to lay the foundations on PCs W10 and then move great amounts of (already done there) code in W10M. Give them time for further polishing of the universal apps and when it's done, I'm guessing that they will push out one update after another with greater and greater content added in each TP release..
  • When will people finally realize that - THEY DONT OWE YOU ANYTHING. All of this what you see. The preview, the news about W10 is just a bonus. Percieve it as a bonus because in reality. It is. They dont have to do this but they decided to do so. So be grateful for that.
  • Whoever said they owed us anything ? Did you purposely missed out the art in my post saying that this isn't about entitlement ? Are are you trolling ?
This is about making the upcoming version of W10 the best that it can be and they ASKED for our help. Understand this. If they want our help, to understand our needs as consumers to HELP make this already low market share system better then they MUST increase the frequency of updates for OUR feedback which they ASKED.
Look at the desktop preview builds and updates compared to the phones. Its quite obvious that they aren't trying as hard to get the mobile platform up to par no matter what anyone says. They need to. And they DO need our help.
  • You said "Atleast update us on the process" and I can find more quotes. Who you are to dictate them what they should do? They DONT HAVE TO do this. So yes youre acting like they owe it to you. And they dont. I agree and I too want to make W10 the best we can and its reasonably logical that they update dekstop more often. And thats probably because they are far more ahead with development of it and honestly, Windows OS is the most used system on PCs so of course they update it so often. I said what I said cause there are lot of whiny people in the comments blaming and flaming MS for something they even dont have to do. This is ungrateful to me.
  • Guys, this nicklel king flamed the comments and fled. Let him be.
  • Fled where ? Oh please. This isn't high school.
  • Sounds like it should release in plenty of time for Build. With all the news that will come out of it & numerous sessions on the platform, it makes perfect sense. By the time this releases, I'll be able to use both my 1520 & 820 units for testing.
  • No love for HTC.
  • Oh well we will get it soon enough
  • Did Microsoft wait for HTC One M10?
  • Lol probably
  • And none for Samsung.
  • Need it on my 1520 :)
  • Still all only Lumia/Microsoft handsets.  But, based on the feedback so far, I'll patiently wait for the official release of the final product.
  • Not me. I'll take the Tech Preview on my Samsung ATIV S Neo as soon as possible. (Cause I know Sprint wont do anything to make it happen.)
  • Cool cool. Cool coool cool.
  • OH man are you kidding? No lumia 930 on the list. Yeah, I am almost giving up of WP.
  • I would assume its included under the Icon but if it isn't I will riot
  • It is not included under the Icon. The 930 is an international variant of the Icon. Keyword being variant, they are not 100% identical. There is a bug specific to the 930 that currently has it off the list. My guess would be that it is related to the GSM radio.
  • "Here is the current list of phones we expect to support with the next flight. - If, during our testing, we find a device specific bug it MAY be pulled from the list. - If a phone isn’t listed here it is likely because we have found such a bug, but it MAY get fixed before the next flight."
  • So, you are giving up of WP because a TECHNICAL PREVIEW might not be available for your device?? I don't get it. Why most of the people whinning about W10M not available on their devices? I installed W10TP on my device when it was released and do you wanna guess how much I kept it? 1 full day (24 hours) because it is nowhere near of calling it stable/ functional. So I will give you a hint and tell you that it is not worth it for your daily phone and if you are planning to leave just do it already!
  • Your tears taste good. Cry more please. So youre giving up for WP because they didnt gave you something they dont have to? Nice logic. They dont owe you anything. Its preview, be grateful.
  • Please leave WP. You do not deserve it. Thank you.
  • No Lumia 521?
  • "Here is the current list of phones we expect to support with the next flight. If, during our testing, we find a device specific bug it MAY be pulled from the list. If a phone isn’t listed here it is likely because we have found such a bug, but it MAY get fixed before the next flight." but more seriously, since they appear to have included other variants, the 521 is CURRENTLY out of it.
  • HALLELUJAH THANK HEAVENS
  • good MS now everyone should help them by testing and sending feedback.
  • 521 is 520 ?

  • Variant.
  • Sweet. Time to charge up the 920. I'll hold off installing on my 1520 for now tho.
  • Can't wait...
  • Will it be more polished when it arrives for my 930? I'm assuming they want to make use of its juicer internals too?
  • HTC has been the one non-Microsoft company to support Windows, so I am disappointed their phones aren't included. On the other hand, the Windows 10 betas have been so buggy, it may be a blessing in disguise.
  • Yea let MS test it on Lumia give us better builds lol
  • A father would give first preference to his own son than step son.. :P
  • Not necessarily
  • Hi Microsoft, I believe all users understood that you are taking seriously for release more devices in windows 10 but pls be faster.
  • Not Microsoft Mate.
  • Sitting here with my HTC One M8 unoptimistic about an M9 for Windows :'(
  • I find it so hard to pronounce M9. Help.
  • Hint: Don't pronounce it like u pronounce m8
  • I pronounce it em-eight. I'm not sure I'm following you. Is m8 pronounced "mate"? I think I'm even more confused. Lol
  • You need some good weed
  • Yes please
  • Recovery software was already available for the Nokias and may be the reason HTC might be lagging behind.
  • Yess finally, been waiting with my Lumia 820 :-D
  • Sheesh no m8 or ativ se looks like i will snatch my lady's spare icon
  • No Lumia 930? Nooooooooooooooo...
  • Wow OMG
  • You will still be needing Denim for Lumia Camera 5 to work right?
  • Not sure I'd phrase it that way. Amber, Cyan, Denim are software/hardware levels for Win8.1. They are not really valid when talking about Win10. Win10 TP doesn't note such a designation under extras+info.
  • Windows phone 10 is a step backwards in many ways.. I hope the next build will be an improvement.
  • Why do you feel like that?
  • At least some of things I've noticed are better on 8.1
-Start screen is not as customizable and pinning albums will switch to blank tiles after a while.
-Bing search is now not as attractive as it once was. They took away the full Bing picture and replaced it with trending searches.
-That "hamburger button" is not as good as the ...
-Internet Explorer is messed up with how it handles clickable files. You used to get a message asking if you want to open file or save file. Now all it does is open and play the file with no option to save. Makes it so you can't save files from archive.org.
And these are just some of the things I've noticed. Haven't even used my 635 to make calls.
    The calculator is nice though..
  • only a week more.............. I can't wait...
  • In about weeks (tm)
  • Will download it on my old 920 and see how it goes.
  • Welp, still 8.1.1 for my M8
  • Things can only get better having all these devices providing feedback soon. Thank you to those who dealt with the hiccups of recent builds until now.
  • Sucks. My HTC One is forgotten. Not surprised
  • Yes yes yes yes
  • FFS! When's it coming out on the HTC One M8?!
  • I hope next time :(
  • Wow. I has no idea there were so many different Lumias.
  • Yes there are and that's not a good thing. They have way too many phones.
  • This list includes phones from almost 3 years ago. I hardly think it's "too much".
  • It's great for customers to have choices.
  • I see the only flagship phone available on the US market is still missing. That's.... Something.
  • Do you really want to install beta software on a handset (assuming you mean the M8) that doesn't have recovery software?
  • 1520 and ICON not flagships?
  • ^exactly
  • 1520 is a phablet, it's a different category. Icon is not being sold anywhere anymore, and was only briefly sold by a single carrier, so it doesn't really count either.
  • Another reason why owning the Samsung Ativ S sucks...
  • I love my Ativ S but it is annoying that I will have to wait for the third round of phone releases (or, gasp, even longer!). I know they want to cover Lumia phones first, I get it, but the wait will still be painful. At least GDR 2 is on the way.
  • GDR2 is coming only to new devices, it will not be released to existing devices.
  • You can install it even now.
  • Why? There is actually pretty simple way to install W10 already. You can't do that on non suported Lumias now after MSFT locked it.
  • Yessssssssssssssssss!!!!! Finally!!!! I'll sleep like a king tonight!!!!! My 1320 and my 1520 will happily join the wagon!
  • Finally 1520 =D
  • Oh shit! Bring it! My 1020 is ready
  • I am also in the disappointed M8 camp. Microsoft really knows how to show OEMs they matter. /s
  • 36 variants. Nice.
  • 925 :)
  • My 920 will eat this preview up
  • Lumia 521 please.
  • Cool ! The big question is when...
  • Nothing for m8???
  • Great, using Lumia 520 for Test this W10fP
  • What does DTV mean
  • Digital Television I believe
  • Digital TV , it's just in Brazil I guess
  • Add Lumia 1320 please
  • If you read the main post, the Lumia 1320 is mentioned in the list which is at position 2. Atleast read the post once before commenting. :)
  • Read again , it's there. Second from top
  • For non Lumia??
  • Wait till the manufacturer decide to upgrade / not :v
  • My 920 will finally be able to give it a whirl. This is the best news I've received all day!
  • Agreed
  • Yeah my 820 is there :D
  • My 925 is ready! I'm sticking with it until flagship arrives! Loving W10 news!!!!!
  • Is that like ALL Microsoft Windows phones?!
  • No
  • Practically.
  • I have icon. But I install on my 928 to test drive
  • Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaweet!!!
  • Weeeeeeet!!!
  • And the HTC 8X?
  • Don't know why but I'm thinking we are never gonna get it..even when final version comes out.
  • I'm happy 930 is not on the list. :P
  • Maybe Microsoft sucks at making a good looking OS but they know how to deliever their last software to the masses, and perhaps they are still learning how to handle the whole Mobile thing but seems like they do really managed to offer updates to a vast majority. That's something.. I mean look at Android 5.0, you won't see too many devices getting that
  • 810!!!!!!!! I'm a genius, not a cheapskate after all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Where's the ativ s on there :(
  • HTC 8x ?
  • +928
  • Nice! Now I just have to decide whether or not to put it on my daily driver. Will probably wait and see what the feedback is with it for my device and go from there. I will definitely be loading it up on my other Lumia's right away though!
  • How about non MS phones like the HTC One M8?
  • Nope. Will have to wait for official release as would be expected.
  • Planning to replace my 925 with a 830 or 930 on account of storage memory when WP10 is released . Hope 930 will be supported .
WP10 is the last chance for Microsoft to convince hundreds of millions users to switch from Android/Ios to Windows phone . Just convincing their current customer won't do with barely 4% market share . Hope Microsoft will move faster with upgrades and apps .
  • YES, my 1020 is ready!
  • When is the consumer preview releasing?
  • We'll see how stable it is. Maybe I'll think of installing!
  • My 735 received a update today, so hopefully that means my device will be on the list for the next batch of devices :)
  • I hope It's Lumia 521!!!
  • One more week huh.. !
  • When it'll be released is all that matters!!!
  • I appreciate the transparency- he provided a list and said it may be subject to change.  That's all I wanted, not hard dates but at least a little bit of info.  Thanks MS!
  • Just in case anyone has not seen this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3nXHAQa-gQ
    It's just too brilliant.
  • That video has been waaaaay overused at this point. It's honestly not funny anymore.
  • Yes it is! Just LMAO again.
  • It never was
  • @Jas00555:
I allow myself to disagree on that.
And 17180 views agree with me.
  • So true man haha
  • The only phone in my household that I wont be able to try out the latest 10 is my Wife's M8. I think MS is actually looking out for my best interest there... LOL If Mama's phone ain't happy... Ain't nobody happy...
  • Yeah Yeah Yeah. Tell us when we can expect the next release.
  • WHEN IN INDIA?! lol.
  • Fail
  • smelly!
  • My 930 not being on that list isn't even funny. I've made all my family tree, coworkers and friends get Lumias, they will all now be able to get the preview except me. Then again to some of them this will sound funny indeed >.
  • Oh get off your sense-of-entitlement-high-horse :P lol. Gabe Aul has confirmed on twitter that there is a bug with the 930 that they are trying to squish. Also, you should read the blog post..
  • So everybody you know will be able to find bugs.
  • 810! It's alive! The Lumia 810 is included!
Although we need to keep in mind that Microsoft already said some devices get only a "subset" of Windows 10.
  • The list is for the next build not official release
  • Sweet!
The 520 can be had for fairly cheap (second hand).
  • Where is the 930?
  • Omitted due to bug, confirmed on Twitter and also the blog post.
  • >Lumia 810 Fuck yes there is hope
  • My 520 waiting patiently
  • "massive number of devices" = just Lumias
  • Just lumias make up 98% of all windows phones buddy
  • Yes yes yes. Preview on the L1520 & L920 instead of the L635!
  • Hmm No listing for Lumia 521, but the 520 -IS- listed. That's weird, as they're the same phone; except that 520 is on at&t, and 521 is on TMO. Maybe the '520' listing covers both carrier variants. Dunno, but guess will find out soon enough.
  • Glad to see 925 on the list. Not sure if I'll take the plunge yet, though.
  • When this technical preview will release
  • I would says less than two weeks. Gabe Aul mentioned in the official blog post that they need another week for a few more things to complete before the rollout. Probably looking at an April 9th release.
  • No love for the new htc one m8
  • 520 FTW!
  • Yes! 620 is on the list!
  • HTC one m8 not included???
  • The 1(m8)4W probably won't get it anytime soon because there isn't a simple way to restore it like there is for the Lumias. I'm just glad I kept my 810 after I upgraded. :D
  • Wowww!! Waiting
  • Yes 520 oh, yeah! But now it's importa y to know about the features that low gamma phones will lose!
  • i think that is too many different lumias.  I know it is variants for regions and carriers but I truly believe the lumia line should be no more than five phone.  Many of these phones can be combined to a single device.  One low end, mid-range, flagship, phablet, and maybe a mid-range phablet. And these five should be cross carriers and world wide.  Anyways... Cant wait to test this out my 920
  • The list includes 2 generations of Lumias (x20, x30) so of course it's going to be long. I do agree they've released a ridiculous amount of 530 and 630 variants though.
  • Many country's have different values on money. Not all people can pay the same price of a phone. I sat flood the market everywhere. When I go to walnuts I want to see lumias. Usually all I see are androids.
  • Lumia 810 is on the list! I'm legitimately surprised that it made the cut... Maybe now I need to get a backpack phone.
  • Ill give it a try ;P
  • YES!!! MY PHONE IS ON THE LIST
  • So no non Lumia phones that sucks ass
  • +520
  • Omg so happy I am about to cry T-T
  • Don't. You'll get the comments below wet.
  • Lol
  • (☔ umbrella)
  • Nice.
  • Never read the post. Jumps into the list and found my 925. Then I read something like technical preview :/
  • Has anyone who is already running Windows 10 had any issues running your current apps?
  • Naah been using my 830 with 10tp as my daily driver. Bugs yeaa but most of them applications work. If some doesn't and I reinstall them. Wala!! Works again. So yea...
  • Awesome... Thanks...I am app whore :-)
  • Even if the old was buggy this is a new update coming out. Who knows what's in this one. Plus Microsoft will start weekly updates
  • Ucbrowser and Fb
  • Lumia 640 XL and 930 are not in the list
  • Why the 640 XL is not in the list? Only the 640....only the 640 XL and 930 are not on the list
  • اسگل،هنو 640xlنیومده.مادر جنده
  • Tuza aai chi gand
  • April 9th is going to be a fun day I have a feeling. If it launches then, I know what we will be talking about on The Tech Informist podcast for that Fridays episode.
  • Or April 2nd.....MS they need one more week.
  • Finally!! Can't wait. I have a 920 paperweight just waiting for 10!
  • My daily driver is a Lumia 920 :-P
  • My backup 810 is getting it!!! My daily driver 1(m8)4Win isn't...too bad they don't share a sim.
  • Yippy 625 for testing!!!
  • I waited and now it comes. If they dont have cortana working in canada not sure if i will install it. I love cortana to much on my canadian 8.1up1 lumia 1020. also not fully going over on my pc untill cortana again is in canada.    she speaks french in france and english in england and english on my phone. she should be on my pc too.
  • All I care about right now is the full Denim update for my soon to arrive Lumia 830! What's the hold up AT&T????
  • I switched my 925 for the one m8 specifically to test windows 10, and this is what they do?
  • Well that was obviously a silly thing to do.
  • It wouldn't be silly if Microsoft would just release it for all phones through the insider app. I can understand if it had a phone specific bug but they haven't said anything about it.
  • that was kind of expected
  • wow. lumia 1520 ...  but i m wondering , its still b buggy like other windows phone ...  its worthy to have technical preview on L1520?
  • Guess NO HTC 8x For WP 10
  • Lumia 520?
  • Fourth from the top in list , check again!
  • We'll see.
  • Hope 521 gets it too
  • After disclosing this list of new devices capable of using Windows 10 and every problem I'm having with my Nokia 930 being the 3 time I am sending nokia's support in Brazil and so far unresolved, I believe I got a nokia phone top that unfortunately is already dead.
A top of the line that has so many problems, and doesn't have any priority in receiving their updates like Denim that was practically one of the last of the list in Brazil and now out of the extensive list of Windows 10.
It really is frustrating you buy a phone believing he's a top of the line, but with only 2 months of use and 1 month of technical assistance, it is difficult to understand what the future of nokia 930.
  • Windows 10 will look awesome on my 1520!
  • WTF...521 isn't gna get the update..
  • I'll wait for the preview for developers. I'm definitely expecting one and I think its likely they will announce it around build for an early June release.
  • Hell yeeeah!!!
  • Yippee happy my L720 is in the list
Moreover its my spare phone can install TP
  • My HTC 8X is still the best, with or without wp10. :)
  • Yuhuuuu...lumia 620...
  • Yay! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • You can say that again!
  • Lumia 640xl cant get?
  • Damn no m8... Ahh well...
  • Woot :D! :D:D:D
  • Gonna grab some loot!
  • Kudos to Microsoft for the pretty open communication before the tech preview release :-) now, even if they could add one missing phone(like Lumia 930) before the release, it will show Microsoft in a positive light(as it should). Even If they could not, no one is going to be ranting like last time as they communicated earlier. This is engaging with the customer :-)
  • Where's my M8? Come on MS!!
  • MS and HTC are not M8s.
  • This is a joke, Microsoft 1st demoed the Technical Preview on a 1520 and when they finally release the 1st TP Build, 1520 (with many others) is missing due to Partition Stiching. They 2nd demoed using a 930 and now 930 is missing from the list of phones to make it into the 2nd TP Build due to Unique Bug. Joe Belfiore's hand must be cursed.
  • He is running further previews with more features.,...that are still in testing for public releases...
So don't worry cause next preeview may open it for all windows phone out there...
  • Hope the next preview won't be another 6~7 weeks of waiting...
  • why not
  • LOL!!!
  • WOOOOHOOOO MY LUMIA 720 IS READY
  • My Lumia 520 too.
  • Typo error it's Lumia 525 not 526!
  • It would be great if they would make it available to phones other than Lumias...come on Microsoft
  • Yay!! 520 630 625 635 730ds 810!! Everyone happy!!
  • HTC M8?
  • How can MS not include its most popular WP, Lumia 520??
  • Ohh its derrr.....
  • You could've deleted the comment instead of replying to your comment.. :P
  • Hmmmm.... All Lumia devices.... Imagine that....Might as well be Apple. Since taking over Nokia they seem to be leaving other OEMs behind. Soon no one will support the platform. Sadly, Samsung, HTC, or LG are probably more suited for building the flagship device everyone's clamoring for but then who would want a Lumia???
  • Were you asleep while WinHEC? All those partnerships?
You know, none use all the other OEMs. Almost every WP is a Lumia owner. 95-96% is Lumia's share. Why is it necessary to support the rest of 4%?
And it's not like that they are not going to give other OEMs the Windows 10 upgrade. They will get it, but maybe not the preview. Well, the preview is not even supposed to be with us.
  • Lumia 1320 \-o-/ only one here with one?
  • You're not alone DUDE!!!
  • Now that's a good news....Waiting for it :):)
  • Lumia 521, Lumia 640xl, Lumia 930 variants....
  • Bring it on
  • Lumia 620... f**k yeah! :D
  • I know, right!
  • I say it will be august or September release and preview coming out in June...
  • My Phone is waiting lumia 920
  • Can any one tell me. Do they fixed the gapless playback problem in Windows 10 for phones?
  • Its not a "problem" that needs to be "fixed". Its a FEATURE they haven't yet added
  • That minute clip annoying sound whenever track changes. It's a problem. Not associated with Xbox Music. It's a media playback problem.
  • WP10 for Lumia 1020 confirmed. 1+0+2=0=3 -> Half Life 3 confirmed!!!111oneoneone
  • Very good news. I hope they release it before May
  • Most probably between April 2nd and 3rd week
  • Yay 520
  • Hopefully they release it now
  • Wtf??? Again no 930 support??
  • Shut up. See that huge list? That's already a big thing. You are not supposed to have this in the first place so stop cursing MSFT and be thankful for once.
  • Thankful for what? For not being able to test it on their latest flagship?
  • well, these kind of comments are probably why they didn't release previous versions this early
  • Which comment are you talking about? Mine or his?
  • Thankful for letting us test pre-release software. They could have just easily let Win10 be tested internally in their campus among their employees. But they didn't and you should be thankful for that.
  • A bug is being fixed before it hits the list sadly to say.
  • Good thing I still have my old 920. Can test drive this again without using my 930
  • Can't wait to test it out on my 520
  • When when when??
  • Coming with more stable version respectively.
  • Waiting man . Just in from twitter read the news that many mobiles getting windows 10 update including 512 MB ram devices. Ohh started loving twitter

  • Yes that's for sure. U don't wanna loose your single Lovely phone
  • 920 and htc 8x use the same hardware!why only Lumia and not HTC?:(
  • That list is huge.
  • Come on let us reach 400 comments! for this post
  • That's almost every phone that people actually use.
  • Not for my Lumia 930
  • Scroll a bit up and you'll see another comment by me. That would be my reply to this comment.
  • +920
  • Lumia 810 .....i thought that this ran Wp7 but no...it has wp8
  • Was Lumia 810 the first phone to come with Wp8?????
  • No...820 and 920 was the first wp8.. 810 is for carriers
  • So it was released After 820 and 920
  • Yes....and the first lumia wp7.5 are Nokia Lumia 710 and 800 which the 710 was my first wp
  • 400 comments.......
  • Can't wait to taste it on my Lumia 720...
  • Appetizer is ready
  • I THINK THAT 930,is there
  • No HTC One m8... Awesome...
  • All rubbish. Give me Denim and Cortana for once "flagship" 920 here in Singapore first! Thinking seriously to shift to Apple.
  • My 1020 is waiting! Hope this will make me stick on this device for some more time! If not for cam, I would have jumped to One Plus One..
  • go to one plus one for phone calls and other sim uses and use 1020 to try windows 10
  • My wife as a 810 so glade to see its on the list.
  • Seems new office and outlook will be included in next build!!!
  • Not really , I saw the 2nd build for phones on neowin , the email app and the new office are not included
  • When win10 official is gonna release??
  • The huge list likely means it's getting close to final. Get ready for hamburgers, other UI elements out of reach at the top of the screen, the butt ugly oval toggles, horrible looking calendar, too many "borders" to make sure even low IQ people see where an element or a section starts etc.... I am just full of sun shine, aren't I? :P ;) :D On a (equally) serious note, can't wait!
  • Three emoticons? 2edgy4me.
  • You forgot the ugly phone dialer, visually inconsistent settings pages, tacky circlular profile pictures, badly designed and hard to make out wireframe icons and other UI downgrades we haven't seen yet. It's going to be craptacular. Can't wait either.
  • Awww jiss
  • Awesome
  • Finally I can put my feedback about missing swipe functions like in Phone app, easily swipe from Speed Dial and history instead of manually touching it from top in new design
  • This is good news, personally I don't think it will take up to one week bfor the release. Am eagerly waiting especially the voice to tap and ability to reply from the notification
  • Waiting a flagship windows 10 smartphone to upgrade my 2 years old Lumia 820. Really love my windows phone but now have small flaw only waiting for windows 10 eagerly
  • Still no HTC One 8... Sigh.... =/
  • All Lumia have to be attended to first buddy, sorry just be patient until the official release
  • gentlemen start checking for update... :P
  • Have u seen any update? Do let us know
  • i was just saying, keep trying check for updates :P
  • Omg.. Mine one is listed... •_•
  • So in short, every Lumia, but 930, right?
  • Dear All, it's just that Lumia 930 is so sophisticated that they don't want to risk on it, other ordinaries are being played with
  • Will the Lumia Camera 5 work with W10 TP once available for L1520?
  • Or do we need denim for that?
  • You would first need Denim then only you can download w10
  • When w10 rollout for mention devises????
  • When the new update is released, will it be the same OS currently out but available for more phones? Or will it be new code that kills a bunch of bugs? I was late to work 45 minutes yesterday because the alarm didn't go off. I've read this is a common bug. Posted via the Windows Phone Central App for Android
  • Why only lumia's??!! :-(
  • I got the denim update from Philippines. Thank you Microsoft. Next windows 10 update.
  • I just hope it runs smoothly on low-end devices.
  • Will the HTC and other Windows phone devices rather than the Lumias and Microsoft get the preview ?
  • Are they on the list?
  • I wonder how windows 10 looks on a Lumia 620 with its 3.8 screen
  • I just want a more responsive UI on my 830
  • Had 925, now  830! lol ! love lumias!
  • And waiting and waiting and waiting....
  • No love for HTC
  • I knew this was going to happen.. That's why MS was taking a lot of time for the 2nd build.. My 720 is ready.. Bring it on MS.. ;)
  • I knew this was going to happen.. That's why MS took a lot of time for the 2nd build..
  • Ooooohhhh... Cant wait to get my hands on the Technical Preview for my Lumia 830!
  • My only anticipation is the new email app (for now) use it alot , and I actually love it very very much , Word in your email , that's awesome !
  • Lumia 810??? Mabye there's a mistake, how is that possible???
  • What a wonderful article to awake to on this fine Saturday morning and to top it off to see my device at the top of the list. #superpumpednow
  • Very good
  • Now we're talking!
  • Amazing, 1320 support!!!! :)
  • Just waiting for non Lumia support lol
  • Great news! About the missing 930, if it makes the list : Awesome, if it doesn't, well enough either. I rather test W10 without major bugs MS is aware of and I like 8.1 well enough to wait a bit more. MS is doing a great job imho so all whiners go cry somewhere else or get your act together.
  • F*** this. Again no 930, no way
  • Great news. Can't wait for the next build. My 1320 is waiting
  • I don't know about other phones but on my 630 I am unable to install win 10 preview after denim update... I hope they fix that issue on this version
  • Microsoft will roll out Windows 10 for phone on 15 April and for me is too far
  • When it will released
  • What about HTC 8x??
  • Woooo, I can finally put it on my old 920.
  • Nice, but I think this time I will still wait for the official windows 10 release for the lumias currently on the market. Windows 8.x works just fine for me on my 1520. In no rush. Windows 10 is a bonus for me whatever it will be. The only two concerns I have with windows 10 for the 1520 is proper rendering of apps, icons and text on the larger 6 inch screen. Many apps render differently on a 1520 compared to other lumia devices. Good examples are how menu's, list and email texts are rendered beacuase of the larger screen canvas. Even quick toggles there is room for 5 toggles in one row compared to other lumias that can only display 4. It could be that developers have to take into account for special redenering solutions for 1520 models.
  • MS owns ~100% of phone market. There are just a few configurations vs. millions in PC space. No flagship released in almost 2 years. What to do? "Hey what about if we RTM W10 for phones 3-6 months after PC version and no new flagships until then, that would be great!" Belfiore-Nadella should be fired ASAP.
  • When it will release
  • I do want a new powerful, very slim, almost bezel less WP. Clear black 5 inch almoled screen very similar to the nl925. Built kind of tough so I don't need a case like the 920. Please!!
  • O, and somehow put a little kickstand on it
  • Zzz...
  • Final  My phone  is on the  list
  • the next time I see a no 930 support complain I'm killing myself
  • I can't wait for the 930 to get this preview. Now about flagship phones, yes they should bring one out every two years, its a bit like the Microsoft band, its a show off what can be done with hardware and how good the os is. Apps, I'm really hoping and praying this one app for all will bring much needed big names to window os, #Garmin #Santanderbank etc
  • So basically my Lumia 625 is on the list but I can't or don't know how to download it properly, my phone language is English US but my location is Croatia. should I change that or there is a different way of getting the build? Thanks
  • 520 BUT NO 521? WHAT THE HELL.!!! WHYYYYYYY?
  • 520 but no 521? Why?
  • I'm just so impatient!
  • I dont understand why the lumia 640 xl doesn't support it as i was planning to get one
  • Just can't wait to test the preview on my 920...:):)
