Overwatch is a first-person shooter which features a diverse cast of characters. The title features individuals with varying abilities, but it's so well-balanced that no one seems at a disadvantage. You can be a Western gunslinger or a traditional assault rifle-wielding soldier.
Speaking of Western gunslingers, Blizzard Entertainment just announced a new character for the game. Ashe seems to be a Western shotgun specialist who has a devastating super ability. It seems like she'll be quite a lot of fun to play down the line.
According to the studio, Ashe is the "leader of the Deadlock Gang and rebellious gunslinger who's not afraid to get her hands dirty." You can watch a video of her above, or watch the "Reunion" short which focuses on a few other characters. Are you excited for Ashe? Let us know. Ashe seems like a very strong offensive character, especially given the fact that she can summon a companion to annihilate her foes.
Western games and shows have gained a lot of popularity over the years, and it's great to see them being incorporated into experiences like Overwatch. While Red Dead Redemption 2 provides the definitive experience in many ways, the shooting mechanics could use a little tightening. It'll be interesting to see where the industry goes from here. Hopefully more titles will add unique weapons from that time period moving forward.
