Rage 2's huge update adds new difficulty levels and Wolfenstein voice pack

What you need to know

  • Rage 2 is a post-apocalyptic shooter from Bethesda.
  • The game just got a massive 14 GB patch on Xbox One.
  • It adds an in-game flashlight and much more.
  • You can purchase Rage 2 for $40 on Amazon (opens in new tab).

A few months ago, Bethesda released Rage 2 on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. The game is a first-person shooter which takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. Following a catastrophic asteroid impact, Earth is in ruin and numerous individuals are put into underground hibernation. Unfortunately, events don't go according to plan and the surface is overrun by mutants and an oppressive organization known as The Authority. It's up to you to liberate everyone and dismantle the regime once and for all.

Bethesda has promised two major expansions for Rage 2, but that hasn't stopped the publisher from releasing numerous free add-ons. Today, the game got a 14 GB update which added a New Game + mode, new difficulty settings, additional cheat codes, an in-game flashlight, a Wolfenstein B. J. Blazkowicz voice pack, and much more. You can take a look at the infographic the publisher provided for more details.

Unfortunately, the update appears to introduce a range of performance issues on Xbox One X. A few weeks ago, the game got a patch to "fix bluriness" on 4K displays. While that download didn't impact performance, it's unclear why this is. Many users are also reporting that some of their newly-bought skins aren't working. Hopefully, the developer will issue another patch soon to fix these problems.

Rage 2 is currently available for $40 on Amazon. The title is a thrilling experience even though it doesn't feature a compelling story. Be sure to check it out if you haven't already.
