What you need to know

  • Resident Evil Village is the eighth entry in the mainline Resident Evil horror franchise coming later this year.
  • Capcom recently detailed the final demo times for Resident Evil Village but fell under heavy criticism for limited availability windows.
  • Today, the times for the final Resident Evil Village demo have been extended from a 24-hour window to a full week.
  • Players will be able to play Resident Evil Village for up to 60 minutes on their platform of choice during the week-long window.

Resident Evil Village is right around the corner, releasing on May 7, 2021, and players are eager to get their hands on it. At the last Resident Evil showcase, we learned the dates and times for the final demo for Resident Evil Village, which unfortunately only gave players a small 24-hour window in which to play Resident Evil Village for up to 60 minutes. After fan backlash and disappointment surrounding the similarly limited PS4 and PS5-exclusive Castle demo, Capcom has extended the final Resident Evil Village demo.

Now, players on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, PS5, PS4, and Stadia will be able to play Resident Evil Village once for up to 60 minutes at any point during a one week period. Because of the extension, the demo even overlaps the game's official release now (useful for those on the fence about buying Resident Evil Village).

The new times for the final demo for Resident Evil Village include:

  • North America: May 1, 2021 at 5 p.m. PDT until May 9, 2021 at 5 p.m. PDT
  • United Kingdom: May 2, 2021 at 1 a.m. BST until May 10, 2021 at 1 a.m. BST
  • Europe: May 2, 2021 at 2 a.m. CEST until May 10, 2021 at 2 a.m. CEST

Hopefully, this means a lot more people will be able to play the Resident Evil Village demo, regardless of their schedule. If you're excited for Resident Evil Village but haven't pulled the trigger yet, we have an excellent breakdown on which Resident Evil Village edition you should buy.
