Samsung Omnia W in December, Focus S a U.S. only release?

We've learned two things about upcoming Samsung Windows Phones this morning. In a series of tweets from Samsung Belgium it looks like the Samsung Omnia W will be coming to market in December and the Samsung Focus S will be a U.S. release only.

The 3.7" Super AMOLED Omnia W is already available for pre-order in Europe so a December availability isn't that much of a stretch.

The 4.3" Super AMOLED Focus S will be the successor to the Samsung Focus and we're expecting to see it on AT&T's shelves on November 6th. The Focus S will be paired with the smaller 3.7" Focus Flash, which looks a lot like the Omnia W.

Could we see a Euro version of the Flash released later this year or early next? Only time will tell.

Thanks goes out to Michael for tipping us on this!

  • The euro version of the Flash is the Omnia W, what we want is the euro version of the Focus S...
  • Dont bother in Sweden. After the support fiasco with Omnia 7, Samsung can close its Windows Phone business in Sweden. I would strongly advise against bying Windows Phones from Samsung in Sweden until they get their support working.Nokia here we come...
  • Looks like I'm sticking with the Omnia 7 then. Seems strange that for the whole european market there's rather large screen size gap between 3.7" and 4.7" that is completely uncatered for by the WP7 Mango devices. That is unless there's something coming soon that's just unannounced!!
  • Indeed, Im still using my old HTC HD2 with mango on it, here in the UK. I want a 4.3" screen The natural succesor to HD2 and then HD7 is the Titan. I have tried it in a phone store and it is too big for my tastes. Ive owned HTC phones since the Touch Diamond but there isnt one of the current crop that is suitable for me. I want the features that the Samsung Focus S has, ie: FFC, AMOLED 4.3" screen. I waited to look at Nokia's offering and the L800 is beautiful, there is no doubt, but not with the spec I want.So I had resigned myself to the Focus S, even though Im not keen on Samsung phones' build quality. If that is not out in EU then I guess hope Nokia release a high end device in the new year.So Im not finding it easy to buy my first, proper WP. There is definately a gap, despite many devices being announced.Regards
  • Noooooooo! The Focus S was the phone I was waiting for! Uuuugggghhh... Maybe Rogers will get it in January or something. I can't believe Canada isn't getting it this year though :(.
  • I feel lucky, but what is the use of not getting a fine option like the S to as many users as they can? I really hope Nokia steps up and fills the void.
  • But this does not mean there won't be a Omnia-branded Focus-S-like device - it just means that Focus S (like original Focus) will be US only, and the first device to launch in Belgian market (not premier market btw) will be Omnia W.
  • These handset manufacturers leak secrets like a teabag. To date I've seen not 1 mention of an Omnia S outside of idle speculation by folks like us. That to me suggests either there just isn't going to be one or it's a very long way off. Samsung only had 1 handset for the euro market over the last year, it looks like that will be the case going forward.
