See the results when a photographer attaches Nikon lenses to the Lumia 950

Have you ever wondered what the end result would be should you use the Lumia 950 with some Nikon lenses? That's exactly what went through the mind of Mattias Burling before he uploaded this impressive video of the Microsoft smartphone being used with some lenses and an 35mm adapter.

Check out the video above to see the video recording, which shows just how adaptive the device is with 4K recording and close focus, allowing you to achieve some interesting results when you throw in some external adapters and accessories.

  • Wow. That focus, amazing result
  • Not really.  The camera can pretty much do everything shown in the video without some frankenstein lens setup. The sample pics from before launch showed it quite well. http://images.techtimes.com/data/images/full/153452/lumia-950-and-lumia-...
  • Hey, Mattias here who did the video.
What you cant do without some sort of accessory is that shallow depth of field at a distance. Not even at 1m.
With the adapter you effectivly get a s35mm sensor, same as in high end video cameras or DSLRs. That's the point of the experiment. The only smartphone that can get even remotely close to that effect is the Panasonic CM1. But even then, this does it better.   But again, this is just an experiment for fun and games. The video turns out pretty bad looking in general.   All the best, Mattias
  • Good job ;)

  • Great video and ingenuity, it's amazing what you can do with just a phone and adapter. Well not jus any phone but the Lumia 950 lol. Would you have any tips for someone just getting started in photography?
  • Take lots of pictures :)

  • Which song is that?
  • The Follow focus, Track and Crane setup make a huge difference as well in this video.
  • No folow focus or crane is used. /M
  • He could use the Beatgrip pro with any adaptors ring for Nikon instead of this custom lost of time, iv got the Beastgrip pro with some FD Canon macros zoom lens for my 1520 and its amazing, just for the zoom its awesome because the zoom on most any phone are awful... I need to try it with the 950xl soon, just need to buy it first !!
  • No I could not. That does not give a s35 sensor, and that was the whole point of the experiment. /M
  • What is the mount of the S35 ??
  • Microsoft should make a camera case for the Lumia 950/XL that allows lenses to be hooked up
