Sony Xperia X2a delayed?

We mentioned a few weeks ago that Sony was accepting pre-orders for the new Sony Xperia X2a. The ship date was marked as "on or about" April 29, 2010.

While Sony is still accepting orders for the Windows Phone (at a healthy $599.99) the anticipated ship date seems to be moving backwards. Today the ship date is estimated at May 12, 2010 and yesterday, it was May 11, 2010; both a little off the mark from "on or about" April 29, 2010.

Could we be seeing a repeat of the X2a's predecessor the X1a? So far Sony has only missed the original date by a few weeks which really isn't a reason to panic.  However, if the delay continues for months (as it did with the X1a) the X2a may be competing with the Windows Phone 7 release.  And at $599, that could result in disaster for what appears to be a quality Windows Phone.

  • The much delayed Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 is finally revealed at Sony Style U.S. website with a notice to come. More on the site, it is listed as X2A the U.S. market. Hopefully this is a sign that the handset would eventually be released and soon.
  • i believe you are a good writer, but have you erver thought to write some special artcals for peopel who likes shopping very much.
  • The latest ROM upgrade for the X2 is a disaster... just check XDA for all the chatter on how it has made the phones very unstable. Its likely that SE is trying to sort all of that out before they release the X2a. Regardless, the X2a is old news... its the X1a in a plastic housing running an OS that will be completely replaced in a few months.
  • Not a nice news for people like me. I am looking for the purchase this one.The rumors began with a leak a while back has just been confirmed by Sony has officially announced the Sony Ericsson Xperia X2 smartphone - which is the successor to the Xperia X1, which was published last year.
  • It is NOT delayed. This is how the Sony Style site operates. All the dates move back like that each day because that's when the product ordered will be shipped. Check the other Sony Style products on a day to day basis to confirm this. LOL
  • I understand what you're saying and I will try to get additional clarification from Sony but the information I had received indicated that the X2a has not been released.
