UFC.TV and Channel 9 apps come to the Xbox One

Two new apps have landed on the Xbox One today, bringing a one-two punch of UFC action and content from Microsoft's Channel 9 developer site.

EA Sports UFC gives away Bruce Lee for the Holidays on your Xbox

Bruce Lee is now a free download in EA Sports UFC. EA says it's the season for giving, so they're giving away Bruce Lee from December 22, 2014 to January 5, 2015. You can initiate the download from your Xbox One Smartglass app on Windows Phone, your browser, or directly from your Xbox One.

EA Access members can now download EA Sports UFC on Xbox One

If you're an EA Access member, a new game has just been added for download. As expected, EA Sports UFC is now available in the Vault. It joins Battlefield 4, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, Need For Speed Rivals, Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, and Peggle 2 in an evolving collection of EA games on Xbox One that all EA Access members can play. I have just installed it on my Xbox One. Watch my first gameplay on video.

UFC bringing app with Fight Pass support to Xbox One in Q4 2014

There might just be a UFC app hitting your Xbox One very soon. The official UFC Fight Pass Twitter account let us know that an Xbox One app would be coming in Q4 2014. With UFC Fight Pass support you're able to watch live UFC events and a vast amount of original programming.

Microsoft quietly obsoletes official UFC app for Windows Phone, urges use of Xbox SmartGlass instead

This weekend, UFC 163 featherweight bout is going down on your Xbox 360 (www.ufc.com/event/UFC163) as a pay-per view event and we’re stoked, stocking up on beer and pizza for the Saturday night event.

Normally around this time we would break out our trusty official UFC app for Windows Phone, which lets you view all the upcoming fight cards, stats and it even allows you to choose who you think the winners will be (and by which method). That info could then be shared with your friends for friendly competition adding a unique social networking feature to the otherwise brutal showdown.

EA Sports delivering four Xbox One exclusives

An Xbox console wouldn't be complete without games and EA Sports is bringing four exclusive games to the new Xbox One console.

At today's Xbox Reveal EA Sports announced FIFA 14, Madden NFL, NBA Live 14 and UFC gaming titles developed to maximize the capabilities of the new gaming console.

Prepare for UFC 158 this weekend on Xbox 360 with these Windows Phone apps

For those who aren’t aware, this Saturday UFC will host their 158th title fight, and like the previous times, it will be streamed on the Xbox 360.

Of course, it’s a pay-per-view event, and as such, it will cost a hefty $44.99 (SD) or $54.99 (HD) to participate. Still, the event is SmartGlass enabled, meaning you can use your Windows Phone, Surface or Windows 8 computer to “augment” the experience. That should be a lot of fun, and you can read more on that on the official site.

Here are a few other apps that you may want to pick up if you’re into mixed-martial arts (MMA) and the UFC.

UFC official companion app lands for Xbox on Windows Phone

Let's get ready to...wait, wrong sport

When you’re done pounding down your scotch, you may want to watch some brawny guys beat the heck out of each other—if so the official UFC companion app for Windows Phone may just be your next download.

We say 'companion' because it expands upon the official Xbox UFC Live app for the 360--that app allows you to watch UFC fights through your 360 to your TV and more. (Of course you can use the app without an Xbox 360 too).

The app just landed on the Store for Windows Phone and it’s not half bad (though it does have the default load screen for a split second). Actually, the app had a really gorgeous Metro layout and logs into your Xbox Live account automatically.

Fight Game: Rivals - Review

The last few years have seen a revival of the fighting game genre, thanks in no small part to Capcom’s Street Fighter IV. That game even made the trip to iPhone intact, with simplified touch screen controls keeping the portable version fun and playable. Since Street Fighter IV hasn’t been ported to Windows Phone yet, the platform is wide open for a fighter.

Enter Fight Game: Rivals from Dutch developer Khaeon GameStudio. Rivals takes an entirely different approach to touch-screen fighting, replacing a virtual stick and buttons with turn-based strategy and minigames. It’s a clever approach, though the gameplay itself lacks variety.
