Windows Phone Marketplace slowdowns today?

Is the Windows Phone Marketplace acting up for you? Having trouble loading, just general slowness? You're not alone.

In an informal polling of our users and from comments, it seems like the Microsoft servers are having some lag issues. Some are reporting that it has been going on all day for them, others cannot connect at all (it's just slow for us, but we can still download). Maybe all of those official app downloads are taking their toll...

We haven't found a reason yet, nor of any ETA when it could be fixed. But we'll keep you posted.

Update: Seems to be worldwide and Zune (streaming, downloading) too: Germany, Italy Switerland, the US are all having issues. Developer/Senior Consultant at AgileThought, Bill Reiss thinks it may be a DDOS.

Zune.net, which is also having Marketplace issues, reports this ((Thanks, @rpmadelo):

"You won't be able to browse, stream, download, or buy things at the Zune marketplace or on Zune.net. We're working on the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience, and thanks for your patience."

  • slower for me today too, i thought maybe it was because i flashed the mango beta yesterday, but glad (in some ways) to see that it isn't... :)

  • Yes it's Slow!! :( I'm on Nodo so it's not our phones it must be on the WP7 marketplace ends.

  • Mine is actually just not working altogether. I can't search and it tells me that the marketplace is temporarily unavailable and that I should try again later.
  • It must be the entire Microsoft network that is slow because I'm having trouble downloading songs with Zune on my PC as well as apps on the phone. This is disappointing as I only just got my Trophy on Wednesday.
  • Zune.net always has the status of the marketplace on it's suuport page at the top right: http://www.zune.net/en-US/support/Today it reads: "You won't be able to browse, stream, download, or buy things at the Zune marketplace or on Zune.net.   • Yep, it's down system wide. Whether you be on a phone, Zune player or PC.
  • Ah ha, worried it was just me. Yes, very slow to load, slow to search, and if my lock screen comes on, it takes a while before the screen isn't just black.
  • Glad to not be alone on this issue. Searching "windows phone marketplace" on Twitter only gives results of the 25K apps news, which is a bit ironic since we cannot browse or download any of them right now.

  • Browsing on device and through Zune is broken for me but I've discovered direct linking to an app using its zune://xxxxx url and through the wpcentral app still works.
  • Overload of app coolness.....overloading l33t servers ! My Frydae is ruined...
  • I'll take the blame... my app is being signed right now (last step before it shows up in marketplace)obviously its awesomeness is overwhelming Microsoft's servers. My bad.
