Cooking is a big part of the holidays. Yesterday we looked at some great travel apps to help you visit friends and family over the next few weeks. Now we're going to round up some great cooking apps on Windows Phone to help you entertain those guests coming to you.
MSN Food & Drink
Microsoft has produced some visually stunning apps with the MSN brand. One of our favorite is the MSN Food & Drink app that acts as the perfect kitchen companion. You get thousands of recipes, easy-to-follow instructions, beautiful photos and more. You can even get shopping lists made based on recipes you want to cook.
A lot of family gatherings, for the better or worse, involve wine. Which is why you should grab the Vivino Wine Scanner app on Windows Phone. It's a beautiful app that will help you wow friends and family with wine knowledge you don't really have. Use Vivino to look up wines, find recommendations, rate wines and so much more!
One of the biggest names in online food, Allrecipes, has a nice Windows Phone app. And it was made even better just a few days ago when it added Cortana integration. Use voice commands through Cortana to look for recipes. You'll most likely find what you're looking for since Allrecipes has over 50,000 recipes! Step-by-step videos make sure you're not lost in the kitchen.
How to Cook Everything
The bestselling cookbook How to Cook Everything is available as a beautiful and resourceful app on Windows Phone. The award-winning book by Mark Bittman has over 2,000 recipes and recipe variations. Nice illustrations ensure you're making the recipes just like professional chefs. This app was in our Hidden Gems series earlier this year and was met with great acclaim!

300,000 recipes. That's right. You'll find over 300,000 recipes in the BigOven app for Windows Phone. You can use the app to make stuff with what's available in your fridge or build shopping lists from the app. It's a spartan app design wise, but the information inside will make your dish the party favorite.
And rounding up our list of cooking apps is Epicurious. This site features over 100,000 recipes, so you're bound to find that special dish you want to make. The Epicurious app on Windows Phone looks great and offers voice-activated commands, so you don't need to touch your phone while cooking!
These are just some of the many wonderful cooking apps on Windows Phone! Which apps do you use and find indispensable when making some good food? Let us know!
