A new build of Straw is now available in the Windows Phone store with better Facebook integration. This should hopefully eliminate the error messages that users have been experiencing when they try to post to Facebook. The new version 1.0.8 of the app has been updated to give better descriptions of errors and also to enable Facebook posting from within the app.

Yesterday, the popular messaging service WhatsApp had two updates: one was server side and the other was an actual app update. Although bugs and fixes were listed in the changelog, as it turns out much was included than previously thought.

WhatsApp now included detailed 'seen' and 'read' information for messages you sent to either individuals or groups. In fact, for groups it will show who read the message and at what time, alongside who has not yet read your message (but the time it was delivered to them).

Earlier this year, Foursquare broke off their popular check-in service with the release of Swarm to all mobile platforms. Focusing on social interaction and planning, Swarm expands upon some of the core features of Foursquare, but it leaves a muddled message.

For a few months now, the company has spoken about a redesigned Foursquare experience, and that looks to be coming closer today, as a private beta has gone out to testers.

Microsoft will offer touch-optimized Office apps for Windows, but there's a big catch; the company will launch those versions alongside the release of Windows 10, which won't happen until sometime in 2015. Microsoft didn't offer any other information on those touch-based Windows Office apps, but it did show a screenshot of a preview version of PowerPoint for Windows 10.

Reachme is a Windows Phone app that offers a simple means of sharing your location with others. The app is a Microsoft Garage project and lets you send your location, along with turn-by-turn directions to get to that location. While sharing your location with Reachme is presented in simple fashion, to share your location the recipient will need a Microsoft Account, be listed in your contacts and have Reachme installed on their Windows Phone.

All of which does give Reachme a rather restrictive feel that will likely tarnish any appeal the app has to offer. The app has potential and I can see it coming in handy, but Reachme needs a option of sharing your location without the need for the recipient to have a Microsoft account and Reachme installed.

WhatsApp is worth billions of dollars, and there seems to be a good reason for that: many of you are using it, at least according to the flood of tips we are now getting.

Today on the backend for WhatsApp they have evidently thrown a switch to make the double checks blue for when someone reads your messages. Previously, they were white, ahem.

Living with Windows Phone tends to be a war of attrition. We make gains, but we always tend to lose something as well, causing frustration amongst users who have to deal with this chicken and egg problem.

This afternoon, American Airlines is the latest to take their ball and go home as their app for Windows Phone is no longer available.

Just yesterday, Microsoft detailed some changes coming to Cinemagraph's backend through OneDrive and today, that updated app is now available. Labeled as Lumia Cinemagraph Beta, the app can be downloaded through the Store though currently the link is not searchable (so you need the app's direct link, found below).

The biggest changes in this version affect how you share Cinemagraphs detailed in the Beta release notes.
