Windows Phone Games

Telltale Games has been busy lately. Last week the studio released the first episode of Tales from the Borderlands on consoles and PC, celebrating the game's premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse. Shortly thereafter Telltale announced the impending arrival of Game of Thrones, another episodic adventure game based on the hit HBO series of the same name.

Game of Thrones Episode 1: Iron from Ice just has arrived on Xbox One and 360, PC, and Playstation systems. Whereas Tales from the Borderlands was a lighthearted and humorous adventure, Game of Thrones tells a much darker and bloodier story. Fans of the show and books wouldn't have it any other way. We've run through the entire first episode and made lots of tough choices in order to bring you this full review.

If you like word games, Enigmatica may be the ultimate collection for your Windows Phone. You begin with crosswords but you also have riddles to solve, hangman puzzles to conquer and a host of extra puzzles that become available as you gain experience in solving puzzles.

Available for low-memory devices, Enigmatica graphics are a bit reserved but the game does have a boatload of puzzles to keep you busy. It's a Windows Phone title worth adding to your gaming library.

The Tiny Bang Story is a Windows Phone game that takes you on a steampunk inspired puzzle adventure on Tiny Planet. Tiny Planet was recently devastated by a recent asteroid strike and it is your mission to help rebuild things to their former glory. The game spans five chapter of game play, which includes over thirty challenging brain teasers, and is filled with creative hand-drawn locations. Earlier this year, Epic Games surprised many people when they announced that anyone could download and use their latest game graphics engine, Unreal Engine 4, for just $19 a month to make free and commercial projects. While Epic's lead programmer Tim Sweeney already indicated back in April that it would be a while before Unreal Engine 4 would work with Windows Phone and Windows RT devices, a new update from Sweeney indicates we may have an even longer wait that we first thought.

I love FIFA 15 on my Xbox One, but I haven't found a great football (soccer) game on Windows Phone until now. It's called Stickman Soccer. You won't find realistic models of your favorite players or fancy tackling animations here. This is a simple, arcade-style soccer game that plays really well on mobile devices. Watch our Stickman Soccer gameplay on the Lumia 1520.

One can argue that you cannot have enough word games in the Windows Phone Store. There are plenty of addictive word games in the Store and Words! hopes to join the ranks of the must have titles.

At the core, Words! is a Find-a-Word type puzzle game where you are given a collection of words and you have to find those words in a field of jumbled up letters. What helps Words! stand out a little is two gaming modes, two theme styles and a boatload of puzzles. Available for low-memory devices, Words! may not be everyone's cup of tea but if you are in search for an appealing word game to add to your Windows Phone gaming library it is worth a try.

It has been a busy holiday week of Xbox One Twitch streaming for the good folks at Windows Central, as we've already shared Kalimba, Thomas Was Alone, Pier Solar, and Geometry Wars 3 with our readers. Tonight at 8pm Central (9pm Eastern, 6pm Pacific) we continue with the game-playing festivities, showcasing a unique downloadable ID@Xbox game.

Are you in the mood for a scare? Then join us as we play Outlast from Red Barrels Games. This will be our first horror game on the stream; hopefully yours truly can take it! Does Outlast give The Evil Within and Alien: Isolation a run for their money in creepiness? You'll have to tune in to find out!

The stream has ended, but you can still watch the whole thing right here. I was not prepared for Outlast's beautiful 3D graphics and overwhelming sense of dread. Give it a watch and you might hear me freak out once or twice. Congrats to the winners and everyone who joined us for the live stream!

Wouldn't it be awesome if Microsoft were to offer Titanfall, all of its available DLC and even the Season Pass for future content, for just $12.49 (or £10 if you're in the UK)? It's a good job the company has done just that with this serious sale on the Titanfall: Deluxe Edition to get even more players online and into their own Titan.

Sniper Shooing is a mission based arcade game for Windows Phone that has you playing the role of a vigilante who is tasked with cleaning up the streets of the criminal element. Each mission has you searching for a criminal ranging from the simple street thug to kingpins of the underworld.

Available for low memory Windows Phones, the game includes 36 missions that are spread across six chapters. Game mechanics take a little time to get the hang of and Sniper Shooting but overall, Sniper Shooting isn't a bad time waster of a game.

Tales from the Borderlands is a brand-new episodic adventure game set within the Borderlands universe. A collaboration between Telltale Games and Gearbox Software, Tales is the most story-driven Borderlands game yet. Players can grab the episodes individually as they are released, or opt for a season pass to get all five episodes for a little cheaper. The first episode is already available on Xbox One and Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and 4, and PC and Mac, with the Android and iOS versions sometime thereafter.

To celebrate the launch of Tales from the Borderlands, Telltale Games recently held a premiere event at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Richardson (Dallas), TX. This marks the first time a game has debuted at the renowned movie theater chain, and we were lucky enough to attend. Read on for my impressions of the Tales from the Borderlands Episode 1: Zero Sum reveal event and the game itself!

Bobo is a simple time waster of a game for your Windows Phone where you have to help a mystical creature navigate its way through a mysterious forest. You guide Bobo up and down the screen to avoid various dangers as he floats endlessly through the forest.

The game's graphics are a little on the dark side, but matches nicely with the mood of the backstory. Game play with Bobo is simple but not without challenge. Available for low-memory Windows Phones, Bobo may not be a game to sit down and play for extended periods, but for short spurts, it might not be a bad title for your Windows Phone gaming library.
