The Surface Pro is a great PC, whether you consider it a tablet, a laptop, both or even your home machine. With the right accessories, it can really be your one machine for every occasion. And whether that's at home or on the road, a good hub is something that will improve your experience a lot.
What you need is one of these great choices.
Microsoft Surface Dock
You can definitely take this with your in your gear bag, but it's probably a better use case in a home office. The Surface Dock is Microsoft's official hub for the Surface Pro, and it hooks up over the Surface Connect port to expand the connectivity of your Surface Pro.
The Surface Dock gives you four USB 3.0 ports, an audio output, a gigabit Ethernet port and two mini-DisplayPort outputs for adding external monitors to your Surface Pro. The Surface Dock offers high-speed data transfer and the ability to truly make your Surface Pro a home desktop PC.
It's pricey at around $150, but it's the very best there is.
Sabrent USB 3.0 Docking Station
This hub is probably best for use at home or in an office environment. It's not specific to the Surface, so can be used with any other Windows 10 PC, but also acts as a stand so you're not running a cable across a desk to connect.
It uses USB 3.0 rather than the Surface Connect port, so you won't get the same data transfer speeds, but it does offer a host of connectivity options. You get a pair each of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, HDMI, DVI and separate headphone and microphone jacks. All going to your Surface Pro down a single cable.
It's also fairly well priced at $90.
Opluz Surface Pro Hub Adapter
Looking for something with a bit more connectivity but that easily fits in a bag and doesn't cost a lot? This is the hub for you. It only costs $13, hooks up to the USB port on the Surface Pro and just hangs there on the side of the tablet without adding much bulk.
You get card slots for full-sized SD and micro SD, a USB 3.0 port, a USB 2.0 port and even a micro USB port to make use of all those cables you've had lying around from years of smartphone use.

If you're a Surface Pro owner there's a good shout you also use the Surface Pen, and that's where this neat little hub could make a difference. Unlike most others, the MAKETECH hubb has a dedicated holder for your Surface Pen so it's right there beside you when you need it — not lost on your desk or rolled away onto the floor.
This hub hooks up over USB and gives you a pair of USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet and an SD card slot. Perfect for those who just want a little added connectivity while keeping their Surface Pen handy at all times. It's also really affordable at just $26.
