Best Surface Go, Go 2 Cases for Kids and Students Windows Central 2021
Microsoft's Surface Go and refreshed Surface Go 2 are ideal devices for students and kids, thanks to a lightweight and portable design. They're small and light enough for little hands to hold, and they'll fit easily into a backpack or under an arm when moving between classes. However, handing over your Go to the kids might be a bit nerve-wracking, and tossing it into a backpack along with all the other gear in there might cause damage. To add some peace of mind, we've rounded up the best cases for students and kids. Thanks to the Go 2 sharing the same dimensions as the original Go, all options should work with either device.

Seriously Rugged: UAG Metropolis case
Staff pickAre you worried about the longevity of your Go or Go 2 in the hands of your kids? This rugged case from UAG has plenty of protection on the corners to protect against drops, and the entire back is covered to prevent scratches. The built-in Go kickstand is replaced by a stand on the case (there's less degree of movement), but you keep access to ports and the rear-facing camera.

Student Style: Infiland case
This case, available in nine designs and made of PU leather, adds stylish protection for students. Cutouts for ports and the camera allow you to use the Go or Go 2 as intended, and a Surface Pen holder keeps everything close. You might lose some degree of movement from the stand, but the case provides extra support when using the Type Cover on your lap.

All-in-One: iCarryAll Crazy-Horse portfolio
Made from genuine leather, this premium case has a zippered opening that unfolds to reveal a complete workspace. Slots for pens and phone, pockets for accessories, an A4 pad of paper, and a spot for your Go or Go 2 are included. You might not be able to use the Go as a laptop with Type Cover, but it's a great all-in-one holder for anyone who likes to travel light between classes.

Less Bulk: Kensington BlackBelt Rugged case
This is a great rugged case that doesn't add quite as much bulk as the UAG option and has a handle (better for smaller hands). It also lets you retain the function of the built-in Go kickstand. A Surface Pen holder and tether on the side keep it in your possession, and the corners are heavily protected to save against drops.

More Colors: Fintie portfolio case
Made with synthetic leather and available in seventeen different designs, this slim case from Fintie is compatible with the Go's Type Cover and has a holder for the Surface Pen. You lose some degree of kickstand movement, but cutouts allow full use of ports and cameras. Whether you need something professional for class or something funky for the kids, this one should do the trick.
Choosing what's best
Any of the above Surface Go and Surface Go 2 cases will add protection and functionality to your device. Still, if we're choosing, we can't help but recommend UAG's Metropolis case, especially if you're often handing the Go over to your kids.
It's built to withstand serious abuse, with a covered back and custom metal kickstand. Corners are protected to prevent damage when dropped, and there's a Surface Pen holder along the top to keep it nearby when not in use. It's the ultimate protection from children, but it's also a great pick to help your Surface Go or Go 2 make it through a school year, moving in and out of a backpack and to and from lectures and dorms.
If the UAG case's price is a bit much to swallow and you'd still like rugged protection, the Kensington BlackBelt should do the trick. It also doesn't add quite as much bulk as the UAG Metropolis, and it leaves the Go's built-in stand free to function as it should. It ultimately offers plenty of padding, making it great for kids and students.
