What you need to know

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter from Activision.
  • A free update with new modes, maps, and weapons was released on December 3.
  • A new mode and map are on their way.
  • You can purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for $60 on Amazon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a gaming institution. The original single-player story and the multiplayer experience were a masterclass in how to make a first-person shooter and now Activision is hoping it can make lightning strike twice. In an effort to expand the game's appeal, the publisher is releasing even more content soon.

Check out the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - Season One Refresh trailer that showcases new content going live this week on all platforms. The game is getting a new mode called "Cranked," and the Allegiance army gets Operator Nikto. To top it off, new maps for standard Multiplayer and Gunfight also come online. If you're into the Special Ops mode, new experiences are available that progress the narrative. Think of it as story content in a way.

Recently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare files were datamined and the results posted on the internet. There was a Reddit post that broke down all of the features. While we got information about some new maps and perks, the highlight was allegedly the 200-player battle royale offering. The player count seems awfully high so take it with a grain of salt.
