Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone now available for Xbox One

You can now finally get your hands on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered without also shelling out for last year's Infinite Warfare. The standalone release is now available on Xbox One (opens in new tab) for a cool $40.

Modern Warfare Remastered is an updated take on the franchise's popular 2007 entry. The remaster was originally only released with special edition bundles of 2016's Infinite Warfare, causing consternation among diehard fans. The standalone version saw a release for PlayStation 4 first in late June.

If you're interested, you can grab Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for $40 at the Xbox Store now. If you'd rather play on PC, the standalone release is also now available via Steam. This comes ahead of the launch of the next entry in the franchise, Call of Duty: WWII, which will land on November 3.

  • This game was so hyped and the player base lasted about 2 minutes.
  • Agreed. I even include myself in that statement
  • 40$? Yeah no thanks..
  • See, this is why Activision is the master pimp.  On at least two occassions (maybe three) the Infinite Warfare bundle this game originally came bundled with, has gone on sale for $40 - and people passed up on that ish.  I guess people were thinking they were going to get COD4 Remaster for $20 once Activision decoupled it from the bundle.  *sigh*  Gamers apparently do not know Activision very well.  They were going to get paid on IW; one way, or the other. And now that COD4 Remaster is standalone, it'll be years before it goes on sale for more than 10% off its current price.
  • Glad there's still the Russian Xbox store.
  • Well I saw this at retail for $39.99 as well (xbox one), so I am sure in 6 months it will be $19.99 or score a used one on ebay for even less.
  • Tad expensive... I assume it comes with all the DLC at that price? I know they have released 1 pack.
  • It's only one pack. 4 maps. That's it. They added some themed maps to the game but they are for timed events. Christmas on crash and a summer beach on bog. There was an event for st Patrick's day, but I don't remember if it got it's own version of a map. Everyone that still plays is hoping for a Halloween map on chinatown.
  • No thank you...i'll go back and play the xbox 360 version it i want to re-live the game...
  • It is also available standalone in the Windows 10 Store now but the article oddly doesn't mention that.
  • i dont know if i will buy this. maybe if its on sale for 20.
  • Maybe $10...not $40 haha nice try Activision
  • Really? I must have a serious consideration before I pay $40 for a remake of a game I already bought back in 2007.......
  • Rip-off. For $10 more you can get the Infinite/Modern combo on Amazon.
  • $40? No bloody way!
  • I have the original game for the 360, great game no question but, $40 ? Yea, as others agree too much. I might be into this for $19.99, as it's the same game just updated but, $40 ? No way too much.
