“I’m really not sold on the design” Halo fans urge caution as early Campaign Evolved leaks appear

Honestly, opening X (formerly Twitter) and immediately seeing a fresh batch of Halo: Campaign Evolved leaks wasn't what I expected. Not that I'm complaining. As a lifelong Halo fan, and with the community as starved for new content as it is, I'll take what I can get.

While I can't share the actual images, as there have been reports of DMCA strikes, I believe I'm safe to at least describe them. However, the images themselves were, or at least are, available on the official Xbox Store page.

Among the leaks is a fresh look at Halo: Campaign Evolved, including Sgt. Avery Johnson and Cortana, neither of whom we'd seen properly before. Personally, I think Johnson looks great, but Cortana is giving me serious uncanny valley vibes, and I'm really not sold on the design at all.

The leaks also include a new look at 343 Guilty Spark, and that genuinely looks awesome. We also get our first look at the Brutes, which are now featured in the game despite being absent from the original release.

Beyond that, there's also a glimpse of the inside of a Covenant ship, and I have to admit, it looks pretty fantastic. Whether you agree with some of the character redesigns or not, it's hard to deny that a lot of what's been shown looks incredibly impressive from a visual standpoint.

It looks as though the game will also feature some sort of space mission, similar to Halo: Reach.

Alongside the new screenshots, we also get a look at some of the cosmetics coming to Halo: Campaign Evolved, including the game's pre-order bonuses. These appear to include Master Chief's original Halo: Combat Evolved armor, alongside his iconic MA5B assault rifle. There's also a gold variant of both the armor and weapon for those looking for something a little flashier.

Beyond that, there are several other armor sets shown off in the leaks, all of which come with names too boot so, here's what you can expect:

  • Splintered Warden Armor Skin
  • Lochagos Armor Skin
  • Mobile Armor Type 117 Armor Skin
  • Gestalt Armor Skin
  • Timberwolf Armor Skin

The leaks also showcase a number of weapon skins, covering several fan-favorite weapons from across the Halo's sandbox. These include skins for the:

  • Subanese Fang Energy Sword Skin
  • Laconian Lance Battle Rifle Skin
  • Proto Type SPNKr Skin
  • Colossus Fuel Rod Cannon Skin
  • Cold Iron: Keyes Personal Sidearm Skin
  • Savage Tooth Sniper Rifle Skin

While cosmetics will always be a divisive topic among Halo fans, there's certainly a wide variety on display here, and I for one am not a fan of what’s on display, but hey that’s just me. If you’ve managed to see them yourself, let me know your thoughts in the comments and be sure to take part in our poll below:
