Gears 5, the next entry in the long-running Gears of War franchise, is nearly upon us, and you can now get in on the hype by adding a bit of Gears flavor to your desktop. Microsoft has released a new Gears 5 wallpaper pack on the Microsoft Store, and it's filled with stylized depictions of the game's characters in glorious 4K.

To design the art used in the wallpapers, Microsoft tapped artist Luke Preece for his particular style. From the description:

Gears of War partnered with UK-based illustrator Luke Preece to create a series of official illustrations for the Gears 5 launch. This 7-image 4k set, inspired by unique aspects and characters from the game, features stunningly-detailed portrayals of Kait Diaz, JD Fenix, Del Walker, Marcus Fenix, the Swarm Warden, and the Hivebusters in Luke's signature style. These images are to be used as a Desktop Wallpaper only.

Gears 5 is set to launch on September 10, and we recently got an extensive look at how the game is shaking the series up. If you want to check the game out for yourself, it will be released on day one as a part of Xbox Game Pass. If you're not a Game Pass subscriber, you can preorder the game now for $50.
