  • Hope these updates keep flowing!
  • Unlike the insider fast ring...
  • Finally! I remember suggesting this in feedback months ago.
  • And I remember gabe saying on twitter that people don't want to filter by genre. Nice guy but dumbest thing in the world to say.
  • They should bring 'recently added' back. I really miss that feature.
And also an automatic top played songs playlist.
  • YES! These two things are the things i want most in the music app. I like to add new music all the time, but always forget who I added, and then they get lost in my expanding list of artists.
  • Ehh, Microsoft's music strategy for the past 5 years has been to strip out features. This started with killing Zune's software and services, like their forum and badge systems.
  • I miss the badge system, h could easily find other music lovers and their taste and show off ur favs
  • The social was a nice idea, but it wasn't everything they wanted it to be...if it wasn't working, why keep up pretenses?
  • Simply because the replacement has been so much worse. Xbox and Groove Music alone make Zune look like the best music experience of all time.
  • If last.fm and Soundcloud can do it, why can't Microsoft?
  • Oh I was waiting for another zune whine. Thanks for not disappointing me.
  • My Zune rant went when I cancelled my subscription to their music service last month. Microsoft is just catering to people who weren't around from 2006 and saw how good Zune service got by 2009. You can't complain about things you've never had or knew about.
  • Nice one-liner, moronic Internet cool kid.

  • You butthurt? Tell me more about zune.
  • LOL, cool guy and trolling is the best.
  • Gapless is a OS deficiency. Has already been promised for the mobile RTM, with no roadmap given. Which smells like another coming soon item.
  • Win 10 mobile has basically become is requesting them to bring back old features via feedback. Another reboot for Microsoft
  • Wish they finally add sorting albums of an artist by date from the oldest, like WMP does. Can't get why the mobile version misses it, is it so unneeded?
  • How about the option to repeat a single song. Jesus Christ. It's a fundamental button like stop pause and play.. Talking about the windows 10, don't know if the mobile version can do it.
  • WM player is miles ahead of groove and ehh Movies and tv? These apps are lacking
  • Windows Media Player is also missing the option to repeat a single song, so while it may be ahead in many ways (and it is, a great many ways at that), it still is missing this pretty obvious function that exists in iTunes, Google Play Music, and practically any media player worth using these days.  One should not have to load up iTunes on a Windows PC just to repeat a song, or add songs to single song playlists just to get shit like this working properly...
  • You can repeat a single song in wmplayer. Just play the song and hit the repeat button. That song will be playing forever.
  • I can repeat a single song! Just hit the half circle button until a 1 appears.
  • Just tap the repeat button till it has a 1 next to it
  • Not applicable in Groove. Even the Android Groove app doesn't have it. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • You don't know what you're talking about... =[
  • The Windows 10 Mobile app allows repeating one song, it just doesn't work in the Desktop app.
  • So much for the benefits of universal apps. SMH
  • Groove is not universal.
  • It is in fact Universal. However the Now Playing interface is slightly different for mobile than it is for tablets And desktops. This is not uncommon. Even in responsive websites (the true Universal app model) it's established practice to sometimes maintain a different UI for the smallest screen size than the larger ones. Many times what works on larger screens cannot be adapted for small ones simply by tweaking styles, so different UI elements are required. In summary, Groove Music is universal, but one or two screens appear to have been forked for Mobile. When Repeat 1 was added to the mobile UI it must have been missed for the non-mobile UI, and I'm sure it will be rectified soon.
  • Bullshit, look again
  • Tap repeat, repeat...lol =p
  • Yea u sound like an idiot it's a huge symbol u tap that does this, have u even used the app
  • He is talking about groove on the Windows DESKTOP app, not the Mobile app. Repeating a single song works on the mobile app, but only allows repeating the whole playlist on the desktop app. So much for the whole "universal" thing.
  • Universal means one code for the "logic" of the application. The user interfaces? Honestly, you don't want to see the UI of a mobile app on a 27" Monitor right?
  • Yes, the ability to repeat one song is missing from the Desktop app... no idea why. The option is present in the mobile app, which is odd, considering these apps are supposed to be universal.
  • Lol, never used Groove on desktop so I didn't know it is that bad.
  • Fantastic update. Groove is certainly becoming a more full-featured music player.
  • With the latest update I like it more than I ever liked Xbox Music. I can envision this getting to Zune quality and beyond with time.
  • And still some of the most requested features (like gape less playback) are missing.
  • Exactly. They are incredibly slow... Can we get some new leadership in there I.e. Outlook?
  • Indeed, that seems to be THE most-requested feature, but I have a feeling it will require support at the OS level unless Groove implements its own background audio service. Either way, this needs to be implemented!
  • Gape less sounds like it's NSFW lol
  • I know right? He means GAP-less, with a hymen instead of an 'e'...d'oh! O.o
  • You meant hyphen right? Lol Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • I really hope he meant hymen lol
  • Lol :D I just saw what I wrote, swype typo XD gap less!
  • I'd setting for 'crack less' playback. I.e no more pop sound between the tracks. Clearly another thing less important than rebranding the thing ... Again.
  • This app still has a long way to go.. Still sub par
  • SMART PLAYLISTS....would fix the need for any of this. But hey...keep on NOT listening.
  • Isn't Radio kinda what that is..? =s
  • It is but smart list u add several radio stations to create ur own
  • Radio is just based on artist profile. But, if you use Spotify they have about a hundred curated mood-based playlists. (eg. Long-drive playlist, Coffee house playlist, Rainy day playlist, etc). An artist based radio would never discover musical gems like the mood based playlist feature. But who listens at Groove? If you are lucky, you would get an "under consideration" on UserVoice. Nothing more.
  • Smart playlist was awesome I could add a few artist and it would make radio stations like mixradio based on the suggested artist
  • Sorry. My bad. I confused smart playlists for the curated playlists. Yeah. Mixradio like smart playlists would be a good step in positive direction for sure.
  • Can we simply agree, that Spotify features cannot be easily copied because of intellectual property?!
  • Groove music is so far behind the competition that whatever feature that they add to the service, it is guaranteed to be implemented by some other music service already.
  • Can we have a features for remove duplicate songs please!
  • How about these buttheads give me back Song view for individual artists? This app sucks goat scrotes.
  • You should be specific and say, they need to add "sort-by" options...instead of referencing your favorite vulgarities. =\
  • I don't want a "sort by" option. I want the Song view within individual artists. I said what I wanted. Before Groove, you could go into Xbox Music (even the crappy one on WP8.1), tap on an artist, swipe, and have that artist's entire library (on your phone, of course) to select a track from. That was my preferred method of listening to music, and Groove has killed it.
  • In the desktop app that is exactly what you get, dunno about mobile.
  • You don't get it. And, of course, that leads back to why MS has such a crappy ecosystem. They tout "universal" apps, and then they're functionally different on different devices. It can make sense in some instances (like when they showed off the USA Today app on Xbox One at Build), but then you've got them ruining their own software and calling it progress.
  • Oh don't get me wrong, Groove Music is the shittiest example of a "universal" app that I've ever seen. It's ridiculously arse backwards. I just want sure I'd you were aware it was like that in the desktop, sorry. I don't have W10M (mostly because nothing yet has suggested it isn't a streaming pile of crap still) so I didn't have that as a reference.
  • I wouldn't know what it's like in the desktop program. Xbox Music was such an unforgiveable horror that I couldnt' be bothered to touch Groove Music. Given that it's a step back from the steaming pile of WP8.1's Xbox Music iteration, which is a step back from the 8.0 version, I'm not going to get the desktop version. I can only imagine how awful it is, given that the original Xbox Music srewed up my local library something fierce on my PC. I exclusively use MusicBee on my PC now.
  • I would be using VLC but for some reason when I do and I'm using my Bluetooth headphones the sounds drops out occasionally and I need to close then reopen VLC. I'll suss out MusicBEE, you aren't the first person to recommend it.
  • I don't know that I'd want VLC as a music player. It's pretty barebones in its base form; is there some music-specific skin or something? Me, I use MusicBee because it's great for organizing your library. It has a function built in to search for an ablum's wide range of info, and if something's awry in the tagging, it'll fix it right up.
  • You have never opened that NFL thing...
  • What?
  • I think many got the point of "universal" wrong. Universal doesn't meant to be with the user interfaces. You will share the same code base within the ecosystem. But the user interfaces should be different. Like, one picture is to be used for logo for 720p screen, another for 4k screen kind. You can code a 1000 things for a desktop. But you should not show off all the 1000 things on the mobile. Similarly, you can have 50 things that would work best and easy for mobile. But could not carry the same to the desktop.   So the code base can be used 100% in universal. But where the code should be triggered should not be re-used. Basically, imagine the interface of groove music mobile on a 40" Monitor. You don't want that. And it seems neither does Microsoft.   In an essence, if mobile can do one thing, desktop can also do the same thing. But in a different way and in a different place. So just wait some more time until this is enabled in desktop app.   PS: I still think Groove music is bad. I am not supporting it for being bad but just pointing out something for you to understand.
  • See, I think you're looking at this the wrong way. No one's here to say "universal" means 100% identical. However, you'r talking about losing basic functionality not just from one version of an app (PC) to another (mobile), but this is also about losing functionality from an old version of the app (Xbox Music) to a new one (Groove). This isn't about functionality or aesthetics for the right UI, this is about taking out functionality. You shouldn't lose something as basic as an artist's song list becuase you're on a phone, especially when you have it on the previous iteration.
  • They need the ... To always give the option to"see more from artist" Mine just says save playlist if ur in the now playing section and see a song..
If I'm exploring it will let me tap the ... And give the option
  • Support for Replay Gain so that audiophiles can have a taste of this cake.
  • In audio settings there is a option to make the volume equal on all the songs... Is it using another technology?
  • Is this available in India? Earlier I used to get the link to the store on my windows phone windows central app. Now I don't find it anywhere. Is windows central app following Microsoft in scrapping all good features one by one?
  • Does the app have gapless playback?
  • Recently added or latest feature now please.
  • All my app updates (including this one) have been returning 0x80073CF9 all week. Grrrr. Don't want to do a hard reset because I have progress that wasn't saved to OneDrive in Frozen Free Fall before it's app update started failing and now I can't open it... so have to wait until it gets sorted or a new build comes out and hopefully migrates everything properly.
  • Change ur download to.... Phone instead of sd or reclick it, that's I get it to clear
  • Thanks. I tried it but no go :(
  • Oh my... I lost all my progress on frozen a several months ago... Literally level 1. Tried Facebook log in, nothing. I recovered it this week... I saw an article about a OneDrive app update... I opened to see what's the interface like... It asked me to log in, WTF, I have a windows phone, I shouldn't have to log in on Microsoft services. When I logged in the first thing I saw was the Disney frozen folder. My eyes sparkled and I opened the store, downloaded the game and it recovered my progress. (went back several levels tho) I'm now playing levels I already conquered... FML, but still I'm happy. Lol.
  • I hope you can update the game finally. BTW... I used android for a few days and I think, not sure tho, when an update failed it just kept the previews version. Common Microsoft.
  • Here's the thing with Frozen. If you play on PC or Surface or whatever, the game syncs perfectly to OneDrive (DisneyGames folder). You can pickup and resume your game from any device. The phone is a different beast for whatever reason, but I think I've finally mastered it. Open the game and it will show you at level 1. You have to leave it on that map for a long time (in one case, I did it overnight).  Eventually it will pick up your save game file from OneDrive. Now, if you progress on the phone, that file is NOT updated. Instead once you want to save progress from phone, you have to go rename that savegame file on OneDrive to something else (you're just backing it up here), then beat a level on the phone. That progress will then be saved back to OneDrive and your other devices will see that progress.
  • hmmm i will try that workaround :3 thank you
  • So many missing features (my priority is proper meta data use, i.e. ratings - thereby allowing auto- (or 'smart'-) playlists and many other features such as sort by, filters, group by, etc.) - inc. gapless playback, etc. etc. etc. BUT pleased to see some feedback is being taken notice of and updates are coming. ...so to see if this update allows me to access my onedrive music (fingers crossed)...
  • If there is one thing that annoys me about the app (before this build as I am now testing it) is that OneDrive playback was working!  Then magically it stopped.  It has made the app "unusable" (as in not useful for me) for the most part.  Here is hoping they fix that well before RTM of Windows 10 Mobile.  Part of feedback concerns I have is that if you look... there are tons and tons of repeats and confusing tit and tat and old stuff that has since been resolved.  Man, I don't envy the programmers/ project managers/ whatever that have to sift the stuff that bubble up over there in Redmond. Not at all.
  • After a short period of letting the app sync I can report that, for myself, Groove now syncs music from OneDrive as well as all of my Playlists saved in Groove from desktop/ XBO version of the app. It always syncs music before playlists, so it may take awhile but they are there.  The weird audio files from apps/games are also no longer present in the song list.  Great news!
  • It needs to stop signing me out and stop playback when I'm on the road, it could literally kill me! =(
  • +1520 I had start downloading all my music cuz that gets annoying, it just randomly stops and decides to re-sign in
  • Unable to order by disc number for multi disc albums? My old creative jukebox could do that. Sorting by two integers must be NP hard for them.
  • I'm not sure if anyone here has read the article on winbeta about why the windows 10 mobile insider preview should close - most of what you guys at complaining about regarding windows 10 mobile is more about getting this new OS to have and behave like windows phone 8.1 - whereas iOS and even Android drive new features and improving and growing their OS's, windows phone users are basically not suggesting NEW ideas or improvements, rather wanting OLDer windows phone 8.1 features (except for the positive contributions and important problems being highlighted by windows users and devs - pc & mobile - who see the core objectives of windows 10. So can we please start getting creative and move forward as opposed to looking back, as insiders - our suggestions are what MS actually do use in their builds. Does it not sound like some of us want more windows phone 8.1 than windows 10 mobile?
  • How about Microsoft adding the most basic missing features first before adding new ones. The desktop version of Groove doesn't even have the repeat single song button. It only repeats the whole playlist. W10M does have it. So much for universal apps...
  • I think people expect not to loose functionality.  So, if anything worked better in 8.1 than it does in 10TP, then of course.  No one wants regression!  As for Groove, in particular, it is getting there ... I didn't use 8.1. music app just because syncing music and play lists was a pain in the wazoo. With the advent of OneDrive music sync, Groove is pretty nifty... and they keep "fixing" problems that people are reporting brining the app to feature parity of its predecessor.  If they would remove the silly device limit *unless they already have* for downloading songs, I might exclusively use Microsoft Music as a source of buying when I need to.  Otherwise, buying it elsewhere and ploppping it in my OneDrive Music folder is a perfectely usable solution for me (given exclusive some platforms get, anyway).  For me, Groove on mobile has had two recent *about two TP builds ago* issues:  1) Groove is finding music that belongs to APPs and showing them in my song list - they aren't even playable!  You can tell by reading the file names, and 2) Groove is NOT syncing OneDrive music or its playlists.  I miss this sorely.  I'm on W10Mobile TP so I'm not panicking, but it is annoying none-the-less!  :)  Cheers.  As for new features and innovation, hell, I'm a simple user judging by the stuff people want to do in this app - so I definitely defer to those people. I support them by looking at "Feedback" app and upvoting features/complaints I agree with, everyone should do that even if you don't have a bug to report!
  • I'd if the sync is a groove issue mines wouldn't sync mine until I did a hard reset on my phone then like magic I found all my songs collection and one drive
  • Yeah, this update finally resolved the issue for me.  Both of them, actually.  OneDrive music and playlists are now synchronizing. Oh, and to respond to your suggestion, yeah, I always hard reset after every new build. Twice when I encountered the Groove sync issue as I really really didn't want it to be broken!  :D  Thanks and good luck!
  • Still can't get all my playlists on my phone
  • Please make the next update music casting within the app
  • Woohoo! Almost back to square one!
  • LMAO
  • Comment of the day.
  • Lol. It's the 8.1 Xbox music app update all over again I guess. MS should rebrand to Resetsoft
  • I hope this keeps coming as we are getting closer to launch. I would love to see all these added features for this app and more when I finally decide to put on my hard earned money for the 950XL!! On a side note, is the 950XL still on track to support pen input? Haven't heard anything to that tune in the latest leaks. Really looking forward to that feature considering I'll be making the jump from Galaxy note 3! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Finally.. Now if I can only update my phone to windows 10 again!
  • Might be just me, but background playing and resume is loads better! You can now pause a song, close the app down and it remains in the volume controls to start playing again! Oh and the live tile is now shows me the artwork of the previous artist even when I'm not playing a song. Is this just me, has it always done this?
  • *edit* Actually after around 5 minutes it disappears from the volume controls.. Shame, i got excited then.
  • Yes, looked that after closing the app the now playing song remained in the volume control and on the live tile. However, it only remains for a time. I have sent feedback requesting both remain permanently.
  • Microsoft music players are getting worse not better. It's amazing. Zune on WP 7 was far better player than groove is now. Usually companies make their product better as the time goes by, not worse.
  • I don't agree. Zune was certainly better. But the experience post WP7 was not great. Groove and Windows 10 is certainly a better experience (for me, since experiences are personal).  I grant them enormous latitude, however, since I am on W10 Mobile TP.  Once Windows 10 Mobile goes RTM they need to have all of this stuff sorted.  Otherwise, even Groove version of desktop has come a long way. They even brought back our music "screen saver" that displays cover/album/artist artwork.  Sure, there are the micromanaging tasks that people are asking for and I think they will add them.  I imagine stuff like that may be in some cycle as they need to make it friendly to manage a large selection of songs and their properties via selection while making it doable via touch since this is now a universal app.  My position is that Zune > W10TP/XBO + Groove > XBOX Music.  The OneDrive sync resolves all of my concerns about synchronizing (I missed "wireless" sync -a-lot-).
  • Lol. Do you even remember the 8.1 app? You realize the 8.1 app didn't get "good" or have a decent working experience... until right before they started working on the 10 app- long after 8.1 RTM'd? -with the pace they are pushing updates to this app, I highly doubt we'll see a finalized app with Groove...especially when RTM arrives..maybe when they decide to rebrand and recode the app from scratch again in 10.5. Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Panorama UI when
  • The panorama UI is basically dead in the new UI language - at least, that is what I'd gather from all of the app designs we've seen thus far. It was "neat" and "different" but inconsistent in it's use by developers and against the general philosophy of burger type menus.  It's gone the way of the Charms bar and Dodo.
  • My advise, install loco music player. Easy to use, easy to make playlist, very good and usable UI. Or you'll wait forever for little improvements.
  • I wish that my music that I have in one drive would not place the album art in my photos folder!
  • Again, no features basically bug fixes. Ive said it before, MS get out of the mobile OS game and use Windows mobile as an android skin. I stand by this unless, and this is the hugest unless's of unless's, they have huge app announcements, snapchate and others, fix this garbage music app and price thier phones competitively, then they are done. And save all the fanboy comments im a big fan of MS but lets get real, they cant even get a music app right!
  • Agree completely. It's sad a lot of people in here bash me for being critical of Microsoft when it comes to mobile. People here set the bar too low. Apple just overhauled their music app in a few months and everything works (leaps ahead better than Groove). Microsoft can't even add the most basic features to Groove/Xbox Music. When "filter by genre" is a new feature, some thing is wrong in Microsoft. I know W10M is in beta, but if people think they are going to get a polished W10M October 6, they are in for a rude surprise. I'll be shoked if this thing is even ready by January. And if it is, it will probably be unfinished with a tag that says updates "COMING SOON" as always.
  • This actually quite ridiculous to think as big as Microsoft, their decision are weird and development is quite slow to catch-up. They had great music player and service called Zune and its crested by Microsoft. Now same company can't even make respectable music app that actually its not trying to catch up with the completion, its trying to catch up to its past. They don't even need people to feedback for them, they just have to look Zune and WMP to see what's missing.
  • So? But keep complaining just the same. Microsoft always moves faster the more tears you shed.
  • *Android Skin* I never, ever want Android on WP. If you want Android then buy an Android phone!
  • Is it just me out do the hamburger menus in many Windows 10 Mobile apps open really ugly? (like half of it opens and there is a blank space and then the rest of the menu slides out.) I know it will be fixed before launch but it seems like an easy problem to fix and it has been like this for many builds.
  • Why this was not done on first place?
  • The smart playlist on Zune would give you a boat load of parameters that you could modify and it would change the playlist on the fly based on those parameters. Example: You could pick your years as 1980-1989 and the genres to New Wave and you would have an 80's New Wave playlists that would add new songs when those additional songs as they are added.
  • One of the features that I miss most.
  • I miss those days especially with wireless syncing I had new music and playlist every morning I loved Tuesdays for new releases and this was years before apple, invented wireless syncing
  • I prefer the current syncing to wireless syncing on Zune. If I'm out and hear a song I like, add it to my phone and it syncs to all devices. Job done, on my PC before I even get home!
  • Well the update still insignificant. Still waiting for several features like Gapless Playback, Pivot View for Collections, Smart Playlist, Album Review, Biography also for Desktop, Related Artist, Zune-ish inspired UI design, Lockscreen Now Playing, Sortable Now Playing list, Wifi Sync, Social, and DLNA.
  • They haven't made it to that big to-do list of yours yet. Be patient.
  • Well my list is actually quite small compared to what I have seen from the feedback and from what I even find missing since Zune to WMP to Music + Videos of WP8. The sad thing is that instead of less things to implement like Gapless Playback which is been requested since the dawn of universe (actually since the UserVoice for Windows Phone started), we even got more things to re-implement because of missing features. I wished it was at least good looking app, but its also rather bland and lifeless, and I love minimalistic and flat design but Groove is bad example of it. The way it looks its like some random basic Music player app on Android flooding the Play Store.
  • I like it myself. I was in my barbershop waiting for my chair and decided to drop into Groove.  I launched Radio and put in a artist and let Groove match it.  Wow. The curation was amazingly good with that choice and I was truly surprised at what joined it. I couldn't stop listening. Now we have a way to go and I know it is not a finished product.  You want it all now and it simply isn't ready now. I like its look too but I have to say I don't look at music...I listen to it.
  • It fixed my playlist syncing issues. Yay!!!
  • I think they should go back to their weekly update for Groove bka Music.
  • Groove is making the grade fit me.
  • Groove is making the grade FOR me.
  • I syill miss so bad an option to sort albuns by release year, sent thousand of feedback already.
  • Finally... but same on Xbox One please and gapless playback on all... then ill shut up
  • The app tile isn't working. I pinned it but nowhere to be seen
  • This is a mobile preview issue, not an issue with Groove. Sometimes they appear by themselves later.
  • You can't look for an artist using search, I need to report this.
  • Where is music pass support to be able to download music via mobile music shop!!!!????
  • Surprised to see it implemented under the somewhat hidden filter. Then again, nice to be able to filter genre and then browse by album or song. They forgot to implement the filter when you browse by artist, it always shows all genres :-/
  • Groove music - sign in problem in windows 10 pc.
  • Compared to Xbox Music , Groove Mucis far better in miles. Why people still complaining about this app ?
  • It is only comparable with Xbox music and it is not a good thing :-(
  • I think search in Groove Music should display result instantly, I mean currently user should tap on search icon (or enter (?))
  • Please Tell me how to download music with music pass?
  • Used to love 1520 for a year until motherboard broken.
  • <p>Yet somehow they still can&#39;t get &quot;Shuffle Offline Only&quot;.&nbsp; There&#39;s 50+ different comments in the suggestions app about it, hundreds of upvotes.</p> <p>Just mowed my yard last night, had filter set for offline only, first track it pulled up was one I positively don't have on my phone. Then as I got out of range of my WiFi, music stopped playing, had to kill Groove and restart it which may or may not have actually started playing offline music. I've given up on using Groove for listening to music when I go for walks. I don't want to take the chance they are eating up my work data plan because of their inability to conceive that someone doesn't want to stream all their music.</p>
  • News is good because Groove music is getting updates. The bad thing is that it still got a long way to go to reach the quality of wmplayer. The ugly is that once it reached wmplayer quality, it still has to climb a long way to reach the zune quality. But judging by the updates, I am sure I will be a happy Groove music user later.   Thanks for the update but get that updates faster ;-)
  • "Genre" add gets a huge smile from me! I was sorely missing it.
Also big kudos for how well the "Radio" function worked for me while the genre function was missing. I was stunned at how much I enjoyed the selection of songs that Groove chose for me based on just one song. It was a little eerie the first time. We live in amazing times.
  • Maybe I haven't noticed it before, but I think I got live tile in this update too
  • Don't see any update. Currently on Slow ring 10166
