HTC Fuze ROM Update Becomes Official

Looks like HTC has released an update for the AT&T Fuze. According to the HTC Support site, here's what's included:

  • Microsoft's Windows Mobile Adaptation Kit Update (AKU) 1.4.6
  • Slide to Answer
  • Push To Talk Button is now re-assignable
  • FM Radio Application
  • Enhanced MS Voice Command
  • Call waiting indicator is now audible when using Speakerphone
  • HTC Music player supports Album art/info
  • Improved TouchFlo3D (TF3D) and User Interface performance
  • A-GPS Update: Speeds up the time it takes the GPS to get a fix on your location
  • Quick GPS is still recommended for the optimal operation of GPS based applications and services

Based on the features, it looks like a polished version of the Test ROM that leaked a few months ago. HTC does a good job walking you through the update process and we'll concur with HTC's recommendation that you really need to back up your data before you update the ROM. The update can be found here (opens in new tab).

UPDATE: As many have noticed, the ROM download page is no longer available. According to some of the comments over at FuzeMobility, it looks like the S/N requirement was not supposed to have happened and HTC is modifying things.  Hopefully the updated ROM will be available soon.

  • I have been running a great RRE 6.5 rom from XDA for about
a month now and it's very stable and fast with great battery life. I am not sure this update is not too little, too late.
  • Thanks for the heads up. I am using NATF's 4.7 6.1 and Im sure it beats the heck out of this HTC update. I agree it is to little, too late. The developers at xda do it better :)
  • As of 7:22 AM EST the download link still does not accept any FUZE serial numbers. According to HTC it was supposed to go live at 12:01 AM.
  • Does this fix the problem wehre the phone won't ring until after the third ring?
  • it's 8:12am pst and the download link doesn't accept my fuze serial yet.
  • The download page was available till around 11:25 am ET but it wouldnt accept my serial no. Then at 11:30 am ET the whole Fuze support page vanished. Looks like a bug in the serial number validation system or they posted the updated a bit too soon...waiting for the page to come back.
  • Would not accept my S/N. So got online with AT&T Support and it seems it is the first they have heard of the ROM being available. According to agent I chatted with they do not show any new ROM updates available! Wonder if HTC jumped the gun!
  • I've been clicking the link all morning and the link is still down. Anyone have ideas as to why? I don't see a reason for pulling an update if it's ready to go. It's not like this is some top-secret project.
