The Lumia 540 has a $150 USD price tag that will be very tempting for people looking to get their first smartphone. It features a 5.1-inch 720p display, 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, and runs Windows Phone 8.1. The Lumia 540 can be upgradeable to Windows 10 when it is ready.
The Lumia 540 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor featuring a quad-core CPU running at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of mass memory. It will be available in four colors: cyan, orange, white and black. The back cover can be removed to replace the 2200 mAh battery.
The device rolls out in India, the Middle East and Africa, Asia Pacific, and Italy beginning in early May 2015.

The Lumia 540 comes with 8GB of on-board storage, but it also has a microSD slot for up to 128GB of extra storage. You’ll also get an additional 15GB of free OneDrive storage and a further 15GB when you activate the “auto-upload” photo feature within the camera settings.
Available apps include favorites such as Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram, with thousands more available from Windows Phone Store. You can also take advantage of Microsoft services like Office, Outlook and Onedrive. Since the Lumia 540 is a Dual SIM device, you can assign unique profiles to your SIM cards, such as “work” or “family,” to help you better manage daily communication.
