Nokia overhauls Glam Me self-shot app with loads of new features

We’re not entirely into the idea of “selfies” aka the practice of photographing yourself and posting it to social networks, but we know many people are these days. Nokia released their Glam Me app earlier this year after a Mobile World Congress announcement for this exact purpose, hopefully appealing to the youth crowd. The app is for taking self-shots but it has the added bonus of an onboard editor for making your face all pretty-like.
Nokia just pushed out version 1.5.5.12 of the app today and boy did it get a makeover itself. The app now has numerous new features that are really interesting, even if you have no plans for a “selfie” anytime soon.
The full changelog of Glam Me is listed below:
- Self-portrait with the main camera as well as the front camera
- Smart Light that automatically enhances the light quality of your picture when you’re using the front camera
- Improved adjustments: slim face, eye brightness and contrast, smile enhancement
- Enriched high quality artistic effects
- Higher photo resolution to 1080P
- 51 languages supported
The ability to now use the rear camera in addition to the front should allow those Lumia 1020 owners some nice HQ images, especially when combined with the new 1080P resolution support. More importantly, it allows those with a Lumia 520/521 to get in on the action—see what they did there? (Hint: Those devices don’t have a front-facing camera.). When combined with the timer, you can easily pose and snap a pic with either option.
The Smart Light feature basically augments the ambient lighting around you, which is very helpful when in a poorly lit area. It works surprisingly well and is akin to the “enhance” feature in some photo editors but is live.
Other additions include more face adjustments (including making your face less chubby) and supplementary artistic filters.
Glam Me from Nokia is a fun little app with some impressive photo trickery on board. Even if you don’t have any immediate plans to use it, it’s a fun app to toy with, plus it should be a hit with the young crowd.

you kind of remind of that guy. -
This is to remind us the (extraordinary) pace Nokia is working both hardware and software wise!
-
Now Microsoft needs to catch up!
-
Love all Nokia apps :D
-
Some time ago there was an app that "told" you when you were in the best position to take you a photo using the rear camera, can anyone provide me the name please? :/
-
Must be 'update your useless OEM photo editor app' day.
-
I know for a fact that Creative Studio, the default photo editor for Lumias is widely used, there's no editor that comes close to it in both productivity and ease of use. Glam Me isn't by any means useless, its an added value, if its simply not targeted for you, you can't claim its useless.
-
I can claim that it's useless too me.
Look, if you take pictures of yourself in your car and in the bathroom mirror, that's your business.
BTW who said anything about Creative Studio? -
whats the business of taking pictures anyways? Are you to stupid to remember the things you saw?
-
You guys forgot to mention the new option to see the Before/After with a draggable slider.
-
That was already available man :P
-
Seriously? LOL, first time that I notice it. My bad.
-
What the hell is "slim face"?
-
Makes your face slimmer?
-
Lol
-
To give you that Fatboy Slim look. http://www.lahiguera.net/musicalia/artistas/fatboy_slim/fotos/3155/fatboy_slim.jpg

Nokia has my deepest respects. Their software (and probably hardware too) support for WP is off the charts fabulous!
-
Hopefully a new feature will erase dirty clothes and children from the background.
-
lol, I wasn't trying to respond to you.
-
But you did. And it's oke ;)
-
Whenever I take a picture with the front facing camera I am reminded that my days on this earth are running woefully short.

proud owner of nokia lumia 620 :)
