Nokia updates exclusive CNN app, now a much more efficient news reader

The official CNN app from Nokia has been updated. Version 1.5.1 comes without a changelog (no change there then - pun intended), but we've noticed speed improvements and optimisations being applied to better the overall experience. Loading the app is much quicker and it seems to do a more efficient job pulling content down.
If you're into all the latest headlines and whatnot, the CNN app is well worth checking out. It's available for all Lumia Windows Phones as a Nokia exclusive. You can download the official CNN app from Nokia on the Windows Phone Store, using a Lumia handset to access the Nokia Collection of apps.

How long has "edit sections" been in the settings area? You can order the list and remove!

That screen shot of Hillary is so bad. Made me laugh out loud in a meeting. Well done WPCentral.
-
I take it was a boring meeting and that's why you were checking out WPCentral?
-
Lol

Why are there two CNN apps. Any difference between the two?
-
Actually, both apps are the same. CNN released one and Nokia released the exact same app but optimized for Nokia Lumia's apparently.
-
No, Nokia released theirs first as an exclusive. Then after the exclusive was up, it got released by CNN.
At this point though, I'm not sure why Nokia continues with their own version. The same goes for the ESPN apps. It's just duplicated efforts. -
makes the collection look good and bigger, otoh, it does some what become a high light of good apps to download though
-
From what others have said, the Nokia ESPN app is much better than the main one, that the video support in particular is better. Not sure if that's true, but I've seen it mentioned enough.
-
I found a while ago that the app made by CNN was actually better than the Nokia one. Does the later have lockscreen support?
-
I think this is just catching up with the one published directly by CNN to 1.5.1.0 which was updated on 1/8/13. I don't think there is any difference, just like there are 2 Accuweather's, one published by Nokia, but the official one's tend to get updated before the one's from Nokia.

My CNN crashes after applying the update.
-
Did you turn off background tasks for this app?
-
Get the non Nokia one, gets updates first anyway.
-
my new version is 1.3.0.2 :S
-
I wish they, Nokia, would update the ESPN Hub. It's broken, takes a LONG time to load, and when viewing scores, opens IE instead of within the app. But, I'm certainly glad Nokia is helping to improve the app experiences and ecosystem!

If any app crashes after an update, uninstall and re-install. Fixes 99% of the problems.
-
Hopefully they fixed the audio/video sync issue...
-
I still don't get breaking news alerts for either version b

You aren't missing much. If you tap the toast notification it just takes you into the app, not to a relevant article for the notification. I usually can't even locate said article. I haven't used it in a while though.
