Official WPCentral app updated to v1.8 - bug fixes!

Yes, another week, another small update to the official WPCentral app. Our developer Jay Bennett has been hard at work with fixes for the app since our site-overhaul and this makes things right again.  Here are the big difference with v1.8:

  • Bullet points and numbers are now aligned properly [Fix]
  • Toast notifications will now bring you to the article directly when tapped [Fix]

With that out of the way and the app looking snappy again, Jay is hard at work with the big v2.0 update, expected to bring commenting, amongst other new features. Have something you want for v2.0? Lets us know in comments and we'll consider it!

As usual, get the app here in the Marketplace for free (with ads) or unlock it for it $0.99 for more advanced features and ad-free.

  • Thank you for this!!! any chance of using the header after the toasted article to lead back to the app?
  • would be nice to see the topical picture return to the live tile :)
  • Agreed and it's something we're looking at.
  • Yep, stay tuned, an overhaul of the live tile is currently planned (but not yet confirmed)
  • Awesome news. I too was hoping for a pictured Live Tile :)
  • Live Video Stream for podcasts.  [Dream/]
  • I'm having problems with sharing to Facebook. During setup it does not complete the prosess. anyone having the same problem?
  • What is the supposed function of that old monitor in the lower left corner of the image?  Probably not the best shot to show the world.
  • How about at least offering the main live tile for free
  • Alright I'll say it one more time: the revenue from the app is the only support I have to keep developing it. As much as I enjoy it, between the podcast (which I do again out of love not money), my day job, commute... and normal life! development of the app is something I cannot justify for free. The community here is awesome and the live tile is a premium feature. However, I'm planning an overhaul of the tile for the next release so I may look at a very basic version for the free users, I want to encourage purchases at the end of the day and I'll make no apologies for that. In some good news for you, I've decided that the commenting feature (which I had originally planned to be a premium one) will now be available to free users as well. I hope to have a beta of the commenting system for people to try fairly soon :)
  • You shouldn't have to defend asking for money for your hard work. I think your app is great and I would pay for it again if I could.
  • Right on! I paid for Wpcentral and really that small sum is well worth it! Keep up the good work.
If you are going to change the Live tile look then please give us a more Metro style number notification (like messaging and mail does it). The numbers on the tile today looks like a rip-off from iPhone (shudder).
Looking forward for the next update!
  • Interestingly the numbers on the tile are actually following the Metro convention for third party apps :) however I'd be lying if I were to tell you it wasn't part of what I'm looking to change ;)
  • In order to spend money, you have to make money...and to make money, you have to spend it. Such a vicious circle, but keep up the good work Jay, this app is worth all 99 measly pennies it cost (what a bank-breaker!, lol).
  • Seriously freetards 79p to support a great site is nothing. Its the cost of a phonecall.
  • Hmm. . . Can you change the article links so to redirect to the in-app article instead of the web version?
So when i read that the AT&T DVP is getting Mango, I can check the links for the DVP review and when i select it i'm taken to the article in the app rather than the web version. An "Internal link" ??
Also have the comment replies show as replies instead of new comments
Or am i asking to much? >_<
  • For the former request, the app should already do so, any links which show under the "Wpcentral" header should take you to an article within the app. If this is not happening let me know on which article and I'll work out what's going wrong there. As for showing comments as replies, yep that's planned for v2.0 along with adding comments :)
  • Ah never mind I just found this bug myself, consider it fixed for v2.0!
  • I have the 1.07.x among my apps but I haven't seen any notice of an upgrade. Does it come free of charge or do I have to buy it again?
  • It will be free of charge, have a look on the marketplace manually and you should be able to update.
