Post-CES fun: Watch Microsoft's Ben Rudolph throw Dan to the ground... again

It's becoming a tradition at CES. Ben Rudolph (@BenThePCGuy), Retail Sales & Marketing Director at Microsoft, has thrown Dan, our Editor-in-Chief, to the ground yet again.

Ben has a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and was also a Krav Maga instructor. Dan is a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fan. So when Ben told us he was available to teach Dan a move at CES, we couldn't refuse to record it all on video.

As shown in the video, when someone is trying to choke you from the front, there are four things you should generally follow:

  1. Address the threat.
  2. Control the opponent
  3. Counter-attack
  4. Escape the situation

Ben Rudolph points out this isn't official self-defense training, and it doesn't substitute going to an actual school near you. Nevertheless, that was fun watching Dan get thrown to the ground. Make sure to watch last year's video if you missed it.

  • He should start a Krav Maga course on channel9 ;-)
  • And then integrate those videos into the Health app.
  • Yeah, he could teach us how to defend ourselves from bugs. Find the bug, counter the bug, delete the bug and then move on/escape. XD
  • Sadly, there's no escaping bugs.
  • I found a bug the other day where some SQL wasn't being escaped properly, I called it an escaping bug so escaping bugs truly does exist!
  • Perhaps he should do this to the snap chat CEO
  • Hahaha! Yeah.. Maybe Channel9 should do this for 5mins advertise or something. Throw one another lol!
  • I thought this was related to a windows or Microsoft but this...ugh.
  • You'll get over it, no worries. I believe in you.
  • LOL!
  • :D
  • Dan.. Throw Ben on the next CES and do the Walls of Jericho after. Hahaha!
  • The guy throwing Dan around is from Microsoft and there's sure to be a window in the room.
  • Oh no....a little fun thrown in from CES with Ben The PC Guy from Microsoft. How irrelevant and useless. Slow news day. /s
  • Yes, because the headline for the article was so misleading.
  • Did that little cry make you feel better?
  • I liked the video. Besides it is something useful. Posted from my Moto X Pure Edition via the Windows Central App for Android
  • Yup Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • But... it's not just a fan's a fun site.
  • Lolss. Chill out bro.
  • How? The title is "Post-CES fun: Watch Microsoft's Ben Rudolph throw Dan to the ground... again" ... to me it's not any coded wording, the post pretty much is exactly what the title suggests - fun and Dan being thrown to the ground.
  • What's up with the Mac in the background "Windows Guys?" Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • It's well known that our videographer Mark Guim edits videos on a Mac. Common practice in the business. Also, we're not fanatics here.
  • "we're not fanatics here" That's what I like about Windows Cetral. Got any way of receiving support without me having to enable 34 ads and trackers bugging down my system? Might want to implement a donate button...
  • That is not a Mac in the background. That is the Razer Blade Stealth
  • The razer blade is black lol
  • @max-ecs ssssh, it's in disguise! :P
  • They're not fans, this is just a job for them.
  • Know what would be a great twist for next year. Daniel, you can learn a move, then YOU can throw Ben. ;-)
  • Agreed that would be a nice change I'm sure he'd agree :D
  • I'd like to see that lol
  • Haha, nice to see y'all having some fun :)
  • Damn that guy
  • Been looking forward to this. Sorry Dan haha.
  • Again! Lol last year was funny to watch too! Both of you guys are characters
  • Dan seemed faster on his way to the ground this year. He's getting better.
  • Haha nice xD
  • I used to follow Ben on Twitter but his icky politics started bleeding over into his Microsoft coverage.
  • Now im curious as to his political stance lol
  • He should live his life too and use his OWN twitter account to express opinions.
  • You don't need any of that if you don't let them get their hands on you in the first place...but so few martial arts teach that...hey ho ☺
  • Just watch karate kid, then go stand on a post for hours dodging a swinging hook, it's all the training you need.
  • Always great to see Dan thrown around.
  • So Dan u like to get thrown around.... Wink wink ! Posted via the Windows Central App for Android
  • ben's the new rambo!
  • Daniel, that was awesome. You looked a little uncomfortable and I enjoyed the video and comradery you two share. Good stuff!
  • Dan you look awesome in the video...
  • Xbox should invite him to be in Xbox Fitness because he's already a inhouse employee who knows something in fitness. MMAs on Xbox Fitness would be great
  • Lol.
  • Ben, you have kept your figure well for having those 5 kids.
  • LOL Dan lookin awkward AF
