Razer Deathadder Elite

Huge sale events like Black Friday or Amazon's Prime Day are easy to get swept up in. There's a whole heap of stuff seeing discounts and the consumer in all of us simply can't resist a bargain. There's a lot of junk out there, sadly, that you should avoid, but there are genuine gems, like Razer's iconic DeathAdder Elite.

Let me share something with you. I've been using the DeathAdder Elite now for about two years and I'll continue to do so even if Razer ever decides to stop making it. In fact, if that ever happens you'll find me stockpiling enough to last me into old age. I'm a DeathAdder Elite addict, and I'm not afraid to recommend it to anyone who ever asks me what mouse they should buy. And since you can get one for the next couple of days for a superb discounted price, you should definitely buy one (or three) if you want a new mouse.

10 million strong and still one of the best

It's ergonomic, has a simply amazing sensor and performance and at a price that can't be ignored. It's perfect for gamers and non-gamers alike.

Not just for gamers

Razer Deathadder

Razer's mantra is "by gamers, for gamers," but if you're not one you shouldn't let it put you off. I like to game, but I spend at least as much time in front of the PC working, so my choice of mouse and keyboard are two of the most important parts of making sure I have a productive day.

The DeathAdder Elite design hasn't really changed over the years, which is good, because it doesn't ever need to. It's the thing I enjoy most about it. I don't have particularly large hands, but the ergonomics of the DeathAdder Elite are simply better than any other mouse I've ever tried using for a prolonged period. And I have reviewed piles of them.

The size, shape, and weight are essentially perfect, and the mouse just sort of dissolves into the palm of your hand, almost becoming an extension of the hand. It glides across the desk effortlessly, and in those two years of use, to this point, there's never been a sign of wrist cramps.

Gaming is of course where the DeathAdder Elite is most at home, and the very reason it exists. The current revision sports Razer's 16,000 DPI sensor, which is frankly insane, but it does mean that there's a great deal of freedom to get the right DPI for how you game. What's also neat is that you can use the Synapse companion application to calibrate the mouse against your mouse pad. Razer's are preloaded, but you can calibrate against any mousepad in a matter of seconds.

But most of all, it's a great all-rounder for a bunch of different games. It's not filled with extra buttons, either, which I like, but there's just enough to add a couple of important actions to. I like to map the shift key to the bottom button closest to my thumb as it's the sprint function in shooters like PUBG, as I find it so much more comfortable than doing gymnastics with my pinky finger.

Essentially, the DeathAdder Elite is just a truly remarkable mouse. It must be to have sold 10 million in its lifetime, and there are any number of reasons why it's so popular. It's ridiculously comfortable to use, has plenty of features for gamers, and thanks to Amazon Prime Day, it's hands-down the best mouse you'll for less than $40.
