Samsung Omnia 7 on Three UK gets Tethering update

Good news for Samsung Omnia 7 owners on the Three UK network, we have Internet sharing! An update has been rolled out from Samsung that enables the tethering setting to be manipulated. Users can now create a small network for up to five connections, using mobile data. Simply plug your handset into Zune and update to take full advantage of the tethering capabilities (opens in new tab).

Thanks Jay for the tip!

  • So... this should be coming to the focus soon?
  • so are the sim free phones going to get this to?
  • that's what I'm wondering too, I want Internet sharing really bad. It could really help several times already.
  • My SIM free Optimus 7 didn't, I got an LG specific update but it's on a different FW to all the carrier branded Optimus 7s.Pretty ****
  • I have an unlocked handset and have been checking over the last few days, still nothing, keeping my fingers crossed, will be a joke if we don't get this!!!
  • Unlocked handsets probably won't get it going from my Optimus 7 experience.
  • Can anyone redistribute the oem.cab in windows temp files after this upgrade so that anyone can use it?
  • This sounds promising. I have an unbranded Omnia 7 on Vodafone UK network. After a lengthy discussion with the staff in the Vodafone UK store they told me there are no plans to put any restrictions on 3G/WiFi tethering. So, fingers crossed!
